The A-segment car market in Vietnam has been rather dull in recent years due to shifting consumer preferences. This trend continued in February 2025, with no A-segment car managing to sell 300 units.

A-segment car sales table for February 2025 (units)

Hyundai Grand i10: 216 units

Due to the impact of the Lunar New Year, the Hyundai Grand i10 sold only 216 units in February 2025, a 2.2% decrease compared to the previous month. However, the Hyundai representative remained the top-selling model in the A-segment car market.

Hyundai Grand i10

In 2024, the Hyundai Grand i10 received an upgraded version. It now has six trim levels, with prices ranging from 360 to 455 million VND. In addition to its attractive price, the model has also won over Vietnamese customers with its design and features.

The Hyundai Grand i10 is equipped with daytime running LED lights, 15-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, and side mirrors with turn signal indicators. It also boasts an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, supporting Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, a navigation system with maps tailored for the Vietnamese market, a push-button start, and smart key entry.

The Grand i10 is powered by a 1.2L Kappa gasoline engine that delivers a maximum output of 83 horsepower and a peak torque of 114 Nm. The engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Toyota Wigo: 137 units

The Toyota Wigo maintained its position as the second best-selling A-segment car in Vietnam. It sold 137 units in February, a 30.4% decrease compared to the previous month. It also had the highest sales decline among its competitors in the same segment.

Toyota Wigo

The Toyota Wigo is currently only available in the G trim, priced at 405 million VND. Compared to its Korean rivals, the Wigo has fewer trim options and a higher starting price.

However, in terms of design and features, the Toyota Wigo holds its own against the Hyundai Grand i10 and Kia Morning. Notable features of the Toyota model include LED headlights, electrically adjustable and foldable side mirrors, 14-inch alloy wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a four-speaker audio system. Additionally, it offers advanced safety features rarely seen in this segment, such as the Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) systems.

Under the hood, the Toyota Wigo is powered by a 1.2L engine paired with a Dual-CVT automatic transmission. This engine produces a maximum output of 87 horsepower and a peak torque of 113 Nm. With the discontinuation of the E trim, the Wigo is now only available with an automatic transmission.

Kia Morning: 56 units

The Kia Morning was the only model in the A-segment car market to experience sales growth in February 2025. It sold 56 units, a 75% increase. However, its sales volume remains modest, placing it last in the segment.

On the Kia Vietnam website, the Morning is currently offered in two trims: MT and X-Line, with prices ranging from 349 to 424 million VND. It is currently the most affordable model in the A-segment car market.

Kia Morning

True to the saying “you get what you pay for,” the Kia Morning falls slightly short in terms of features compared to its two competitors. It lacks LED headlights and cruise control, and its design and features have not been updated for a while.

Nonetheless, the Kia Morning still offers notable features such as daytime running LED lights, LED taillights, electrically adjustable and foldable side mirrors with turn signal indicators, 14 to 15-inch wheels, an analog instrument cluster with a multi-information display, leather seats, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a six-speaker audio system, and automatic climate control.

The Kia Morning is powered by a 1.25L Kappa gasoline engine that produces a maximum output of 83 horsepower and a peak torque of 120 Nm. It is paired with either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission.
