On May 26, 2025, VinFast announced that it would officially discontinue its battery leasing policy for electric cars and motorcycles from March 1, 2025, and instead, offer attractive support packages for all vehicles with batteries included. According to VinFast, this adjustment aligns with the practical needs of the market and minimizes customers’ monthly energy costs.
The battery leasing model was VinFast’s initial strategy during its transition to becoming a fully electric car manufacturer. It aimed to reduce the total upfront cost, making electric vehicles more accessible and affordable for customers. After more than three years of successful implementation, this policy has now come to an end.
VinFast discontinues its battery leasing policy for electric cars and motorcycles.
Customers who currently own electric cars or motorcycles under the battery leasing model have the option to either continue with the current policy or choose to purchase the batteries from VinFast at a discounted price. Additionally, VinFast is offering extended support to electric car owners by providing free battery charging for an additional six months, until December 31, 2027.
Regarding electric motorcycles, VinFast plans to install convenient charging stations at authorized dealers and stores nationwide, offering free battery charging for one year.
As of the end of 2024, VinFast had delivered a total of 97,399 electric cars, 70,977 electric motorcycles, and e-scooters globally. In the Vietnamese market, VinFast has become the leading automotive brand, with a diverse range of electric vehicles across mini-SUV and E-SUV segments, outperforming both domestic and foreign gasoline and electric car manufacturers. For 2025, VinFast aims to double its global vehicle deliveries compared to the previous year.
