Huawei has recently filed a lawsuit against a car-focused blogger for criticizing their newly launched Maextro S800.
The issue arose from a series of comparison videos created by Huawei pitting the S800 against the Mercedes-Maybach S680, testing their suspension and performance. In the trial runs, the Maextro S800 effortlessly navigated obstacles like water, glass, and sand without a trace, while the Mercedes-Maybach S680 struggled, spraying water and breaking glass.
These images sparked intense debates within the automotive community. A blogger named Racing Frappuccino posted a video analyzing these tests, accusing Huawei of staging the events to highlight the superiority of their new car and discredit the competition.
In the tests, Huawei meticulously controlled factors such as speed, weight, and water depth to ensure the car’s smooth passage. This calculation led to questions about the authenticity of the trials and the company’s integrity.
In response to the allegations, Huawei has sued Racing Frappuccino, demanding $140,000 (3.57 billion VND) in compensation for damaging their reputation.
However, Racing Frappuccino has counter-sued Huawei, demanding a public apology and 2.5 million yuan (8.8 billion VND) in compensation.
Maextro is a new automotive brand developed by the Huawei-Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC) alliance, and the S800 is their inaugural offering. Maextro aims to rival luxury car brands like Rolls-Royce, Bentley, and Maybach.
