Toyota Unveils the New Crown Estate: A Versatile Addition to the Crown Family
Toyota has recently expanded its Crown lineup in the domestic market with the introduction of the Crown Estate. This versatile model is the fourth body style in the Crown range, joining the crossover, hatchback (sport), and sedan variants.
The Toyota Crown Estate is offered in two distinct versions: the RS plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and the Z hybrid (HEV). After a 15-year hiatus, the Crown Estate returns with a fresh new look and a position in the mid-size SUV segment. Its dimensions are impressive, measuring 4,930 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm.
The overall design of the Crown Estate follows the styling cues of its siblings in the new-generation Toyota Crown family. It boasts a striking front end with a borderless grille, reminiscent of the Lexus RX’s design. Slim LED daytime running lights sweep towards the rear, forming a distinctive C-shape. Meanwhile, the headlights are positioned lower, seamlessly connecting with the air intakes.
On the sides, the Crown Estate sports a set of bold 21-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels finished in gray, adding to its robust appearance.
At the rear, the Toyota Crown Estate 2025 features sleek taillights that stretch across the width of the vehicle. Below the taillights sits a subtle Toyota logo, while the front end displays the iconic Crown logo. This subtle differentiation in branding adds a touch of distinction to the model.
Moving inside, the Crown Estate offers a choice of three interior color schemes: black, brown, or dark green with black accents. It comfortably seats five occupants and comes loaded with premium features. These include leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and a fully digital instrument cluster seamlessly integrated with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The list of amenities continues with digital side-view mirrors, front and rear cameras, connected navigation, automatic climate control, rear-seat center armrest with air vents, a panoramic sunroof, push-button start, an electronic gear selector, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.
Under the hood, both variants of the Toyota Crown Estate are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. In the hybrid model, this engine produces 190 horsepower and 236 Nm of torque, while the plug-in hybrid version generates 177 horsepower and 219 Nm of torque.
Additionally, both versions benefit from a pair of electric motors on the front axle, delivering 182 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque. The rear axle is equipped with a separate electric motor, producing 54 horsepower and 121 Nm of torque. This configuration results in an E-Four all-wheel-drive system for enhanced traction and performance.
The Toyota Crown Estate PHEV boasts an impressive all-electric range of 89 kilometers, thanks to its 51 Ah lithium-ion battery. On the other hand, the Hybrid model utilizes a smaller 5 Ah battery.
Charging times for the PHEV variant are efficient, ranging from 3.5 hours using a 200 V/30 A power source to 38 minutes for an 80% charge when using a fast DC charger.
The Toyota Crown Estate is equipped with a MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension. It also features Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) with three modes – Normal, Sport, and Rear Comfort – for a customizable driving experience.
In terms of safety, the Crown Estate is packed with advanced features, including a collision avoidance system that detects pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcycles, both during the day and at night. This system utilizes a millimeter-wave radar and a monocular camera to ensure maximum safety on the road.
In the Japanese market, the 2025 Toyota Crown Estate Z Hybrid is priced at 6.35 million Yen (approximately 1.08 billion VND), while the RS PHEV variant carries a price tag of 8.1 million Yen (approximately 1.38 billion VND).
