Suzuki Indonesia’s official website recently teased a mysterious new model with the caption, “What’s Marvelous for You?”
Although only a silhouette was revealed, many believe it to be the Suzuki Fronx, which made its global debut in India back in 2023.
In fact, prior to this, a Suzuki Fronx with a complete license plate was also spotted undergoing road tests in Indonesia. This further fuels the speculation that the official launch is imminent.
The Suzuki Fronx is positioned in the same segment as the Honda WR-V, Toyota Raize, and Kia Sonet. Its dimensions measure 3,995 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, and 1,550 mm in height.
Suzuki Fronx shares design similarities with the Grand Vitara SUV and Baleno hatchback, both previously sold in India. It sports a trendy arched roof, modern LED lights at the front and rear, and robust 17-inch alloy wheels.
The Suzuki Fronx’s cabin boasts an impressive array of features, including a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, analog instrument cluster, Arkamys 6-speaker system, 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging pad, smart key, automatic climate control, satellite navigation, and a color HUD.
While the engine details for the Indonesian market are yet to be revealed, in India, the Suzuki Fronx offers two powertrain options. The first is a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 90 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual or an automatic AGS transmission.
The second option is a hybrid system combining a 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor, generating a combined output of 100 horsepower and 148 Nm of torque. This setup is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
In terms of safety, the Suzuki Fronx is equipped with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, stability and traction control, rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera.
The Suzuki Fronx is likely to be assembled at the Suzuki Cikarang plant in Indonesia, the same facility that produces the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid and Ertiga sold in Vietnam. This raises the possibility of the Fronx being distributed in the Vietnamese market as well.
