This Porsche 911 Dakar has arguably clocked more miles than any other in such a short time. Last year alone, its owner, a businessman from Hai Phong, took it on not one but two extensive trips to China.

Just months after taking delivery of this $700,000 Porsche 911 Dakar, the businessman embarked on a 10,000-kilometer-long journey from Vietnam to China, including the Gobi Desert, in just five days. And that was just the beginning.

In June 2024, he took the car back to China for another adventure, this time covering a staggering 10,407 kilometers. And as if that weren’t enough, he’s now in the midst of his third cross-border trip in the Porsche, exploring more of China and its diverse flora.

This particular Porsche 911 Dakar is quite special. It was brought to Vietnam in August 2023 and is the first official 911 Dakar in the country and one of only 2,500 produced globally. With the serial number 1,904, it holds a special significance for the owner, matching his date of birth.

The car has been personalized with the owner’s signature on the door sills, a roll cage, a roof rack, a bonnet-mounted light bar, and other off-road accessories.

The front and rear bumpers are inspired by the 911 Turbo S but with added underbody protection and wheel arch flares. The hood is made of lightweight carbon fiber-reinforced polymer, similar to the 911 GT3.

The car sits on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear Dakar wheels wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion tires, measuring 245/45 ZR19 and 295/40 ZR20, respectively.

The 911 Dakar is based on the standard 911 Carrera but with significant upgrades for off-road capability. Porsche has tweaked the suspension, raising the ground clearance to 200mm, on par with many SUVs.

Two new driving modes have been added: Rally and Off-road. Rally mode is designed for rough surfaces, sending most of the torque to the rear wheels. The Off-road High Level mode further increases ground clearance by 30mm and is automatically deactivated above 170 km/h.

Under the hood, the 911 Dakar is powered by a 3.0L flat-six engine producing 473 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed PDK automatic transmission and AWD. This setup enables the car to sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 240 km/h.

The car also features a standard four-wheel steering system and a multi-purpose engine mount, reducing weight by 7.3 kg. Other weight-saving measures include a fixed rear wing and thinner glass.
