Recently, on a forum for ride-hailing drivers in Northern Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Anh Van shared an extremely relaxed car-buying calculation for his fellow drivers. Specifically, when purchasing a car through GSM from 17/3-24/3, drivers receive a 5 million VND discount directly from the selling price. The actual amount to be paid is only 264 million VND, while customers are free to choose trendy special colors such as pink and green without any extra charge.

This is an incredibly profitable deal, as buying gasoline-powered cars for ride-hailing services usually requires double the amount, excluding the 10-12% registration fee (electric vehicles are exempt from this fee until February 28, 2027). If purchasing a used car, the initial investment cost is still at least 350-400 million VND – a significant sum for ride-hailing drivers who prioritize savings.

Notably, drivers who don’t have ready cash to pay 100% upfront or want to optimize their finances for other purposes can opt for the loan policy of up to 90% over five years. This means that with an initial payment of only 10%, or 26.4 million VND, the buyer can take the car home. “It’s like paying the price of a motorbike but getting a car,” Mr. Van commented.

Mr. Van calculated that if the remaining amount of over 200 million VND is evenly distributed over five years, including principal and interest, the buyer would only need to pay about 5 million VND per month – a relatively light burden for most customers. “You pay 5 million VND per month, but the car is yours, and the car helps you generate profits several times that amount to cover the principal, interest, and provide income,” he said.

Break Even in 15 Months

Sharing the same view as Mr. Van, many drivers believe that with Minio Green’s economic equation, breaking even in a short period is “as easy as pie,” especially when simultaneously applying the preferential policies for electric vehicle owners from VinFast and GSM.

Currently, all VinFast electric vehicle owners enjoy free charging until mid-2027, resulting in zero energy costs. Therefore, Minio Green owners can save 5-7 million VND in fuel costs each month.

Notably, if they purchase Minio Green through GSM and participate in ride-hailing on the Xanh SM Platform in 2025, drivers will receive up to 90% of the revenue for three years and take early delivery of the car starting in August 2025. This percentage surpasses other platforms, which offer drivers a maximum of 75%. Calculations show that it would take just over 15 months to recoup the investment if daily revenue reaches approximately 700,000 VND.

Minio Green not only helps drivers save on operating costs but is also the only small electric car in the market that can be used for ride-hailing on the Xanh SM Platform. “Many fellow drivers had previously considered minicars for their high-profit potential. Now, with Minio, we are completely assured; we can use it as a personal car or switch to ride-hailing whenever we want,” said Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trong, a driver in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Mr. Trong, the fare for minicars will undoubtedly be lower than that of other models currently on the market, increasing their competitiveness. “We calculate that for small cars, if the fare is around 8,000-9,000 VND/km, which is the market rate, we will surely have many passengers. We just need to worry about keeping up with the demand,” he joked.

Mr. Trong believes that Minio Green can attract customers who currently use bike-hailing services as it can accommodate more passengers and provides shelter from the sun and rain. In addition to its flexibility due to its compact size, Minio Green also offers sufficient space for four people, and its specifications are well-suited to meet various needs. The car is equipped with an electric motor that delivers a maximum power of 20 kW, a maximum torque of 65 Nm, and a top speed of 80 km/h. It can travel up to 170 km on a single charge.
