Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) officially rolled out its 700,000th vehicle, becoming the first company to reach a total production output of 700,000 units in Vietnam.

This significant milestone in the lead-up to Toyota’s 30th anniversary in Vietnam in September 2025 reflects the company’s dedication to boosting domestic production in line with the government’s orientation, thereby contributing to the development of the automotive industry in particular and the country in general.

In 1995, construction began on the Toyota Vietnam factory in Vinh Phuc province, and it commenced operations in 1996 with an average production of just 2 vehicles per day, equivalent to 212 vehicles per year. Today, the factory’s output has surpassed 108 vehicles per day, or approximately 27,000 vehicles annually. In May 1999, Toyota became the first automobile manufacturer in Vietnam to be awarded the ISO 14001 certification for its Environmental Management System at the factory, which it has continuously maintained and improved upon ever since.

Additionally, Toyota Vietnam became the first automobile manufacturer to have a complete production process comprising five stages: stamping, welding, painting, assembly, and quality control, with the official operation of its stamping workshop in 2003. By implementing the Toyota Production System (TPS) along with stable management methods and a scientific system, promoting continuous improvement (Kaizen) with a high level of autonomy, the Toyota Vietnam factory consistently aims to enhance production quality and offer a diverse range of products to meet all customer needs. Throughout its 30 years of operation, strategic models such as the Vios, Innova, Fortuner, and Veloz Cross have consistently topped the best-selling vehicle lists in different periods, contributing to Toyota’s success in the Vietnamese market.

Moreover, Toyota Vietnam has provided employment for over 1,500 staff members, upholding the principle of “Respect for People” and the belief that “No matter how advanced machines and equipment are, people remain the key factor.” Toyota consistently equips its members with knowledge and skills through various training courses designed to suit their development path, including technical training and soft skills enhancement, as well as regular participation in regional competitions. As a result, Toyota has cultivated a safe and professional working environment with a dedicated team that prioritizes sustainability and the enhancement of human values.

Thanks to these relentless efforts, Toyota Vietnam proudly stands as the only manufacturing company outside of Japan to receive the Good Factory 2024 award from the Japan Management Association.

One of Toyota Vietnam‘s commitments to contributing to the development of the automotive industry is to increase localization by producing components in its factory, attracting leading suppliers to invest in Vietnam, and seeking and developing local suppliers. Notably, since 2018, Toyota has established a dedicated department to support suppliers, prioritizing Vietnamese suppliers, and helping them improve their management capabilities, thereby increasing labor productivity and product quality. The number of Toyota’s suppliers has now reached 60, including 13 local suppliers, with over 1,000 localized products. Furthermore, in 2020, Toyota Vietnam and the Ministry of Industry and Trade signed a Memorandum of Understanding on “Cooperation in Supporting Domestic Enterprises in the Automotive Supporting Industry” to enhance the capacity and strengthen the linkage between domestic supporting enterprises and automobile assemblers.

Adhering to the principle of “Customers First,” Toyota has continuously expanded its dealer system to numerous provinces and cities nationwide to bring its services closer to customers. As of February 2025, Toyota has established 86 dealers and branches across 49 provinces and cities, with over 990,000 vehicles (including Lexus) delivered to customers and more than 20 million service customers.

In parallel with its production and business activities, Toyota Vietnam strives to be a good corporate citizen by actively engaging in and implementing numerous meaningful social programs and activities with the support and cooperation of government agencies, universities, colleges, and local people in various fields, including Traffic Safety, Education and Human Resources Development, Environmental Protection, and Culture and Society. To date, the total contribution to Toyota’s social responsibility activities has exceeded $31 million.

As it approaches its 30th anniversary, with products crafted by the skillful hands of Vietnamese workers, Toyota will continue to deliver exceptional experiences that exceed customer expectations and contribute to realizing its vision of “Happiness for All.”
