On March 19, the 700,000th vehicle rolled off the assembly line at the Toyota Vinh Phuc plant, an impressive milestone ahead of the 30th anniversary of Toyota’s presence in Vietnam.
Since its establishment in 1996, the Toyota plant in Vinh Phuc province has continuously improved in both quality and quantity. The average daily production has increased from 2 vehicles per day (212 vehicles per year) to over 108 vehicles per day (approximately 27,000 vehicles per year). In May 1999, Toyota became the first automobile manufacturer in Vietnam to be certified with ISO 14001 for its Environmental Management System, which it has consistently maintained and improved upon. Additionally, Toyota Vietnam became the first automobile manufacturer to have a complete 5-stage production process, including stamping, welding, painting, assembly, and quality control, with the official operation of its stamping workshop in 2003.
Currently, the plant manufactures and assembles 5 models, including the Vios, Innova, Fortuner, Veloz Cross, and Avanza Premio. The Vios and Veloz Cross frequently make it to the top 10 best-selling cars in the market, contributing to Toyota’s success in Vietnam. On the eve of its 30th anniversary, the Japanese automaker set another record as the first brand in Vietnam to reach a total production volume of 700,000 vehicles.
Toyota’s successes have significantly contributed to the development of Vietnam’s socio-economic landscape. In addition to increasing the localization rate of its products, Toyota has also implemented support projects to improve domestic enterprises in the supporting industries sector. To date, the Japanese automaker has paved the way for 13 purely Vietnamese suppliers to join the supply chain, with nearly 1,000 types of localized parts and accessories. Moreover, Toyota Vietnam has provided employment opportunities for over 1,500 staff members. Thanks to these efforts, Toyota Vietnam is the only manufacturing company outside of Japan to be awarded the Good Factory 2024 by the Japan Management Association.
In addition to its production achievements, Toyota has also accumulated 20 million official service users. The brand is on track to reach the milestone of 1 million vehicles sold, becoming the first brand in Vietnam to achieve this feat. Currently, Toyota has developed a network of 86 dealers, dealer branches, and authorized service stations across 49 provinces and cities nationwide.
Toyota continues to strive to be a good corporate citizen in the local community through positive contributions in the fields of Traffic Safety, Environment, Education & Human Resources Development, and Social Culture. As it approaches its 30th anniversary, Toyota remains committed to delivering exceptional experiences that exceed customer expectations and contributing to the realization of its vision, “Bringing happiness to everyone.”
