According to Drive, Nissan Australia is working hard to secure stock of the previous-generation Nissan Patrol V8-powered (codenamed Y62) for local customers before the next-generation model with a twin-turbocharged V6 engine (codenamed Y63) becomes available in the near future.
While the Nissan Patrol Y63 has been on sale in the Middle East since late last year, Australian customers won’t be able to place deposits until the end of next year. Drive reports that the two-year delay in producing right-hand-drive versions is the main reason for this.
Production of the Y62 at the Japanese factory will also be limited as the manufacturer prioritizes the new-generation Nissan Patrol for left-hand-drive markets.
Andrew Humberstone, the boss of Nissan in Australia and New Zealand, stated that the company is striving to get as many Y62 Patrols as possible. This move aims to prevent a potential stock shortage before the launch of the next-generation large SUV.
Demand for the current-generation Nissan Patrol is at an all-time high. Patrol sales reached 8,293 units in Australia last year, the highest in almost 20 years.

Andrew Humberstone believes that Australian customers are showing a particular interest in the current-generation Nissan Patrol.
The head of Nissan in Australia and New Zealand affirmed the commitment to ensuring the supply of the Y62 Patrol until the new Y63 model arrives and even beyond that.
Drive reports that Australia will be the first right-hand-drive market for the new Nissan Patrol Y63. However, these right-hand-drive models in the new generation won’t be available before 2026.
The official timeline for accepting deposits for the new Patrol in Australia is the end of 2026. The first deliveries are expected to take place shortly after, possibly in late 2026 or early 2027.

According to Drive, there is significant demand for the Nissan Patrol in Australia, and the boss of Nissan in Australia and New Zealand is working hard to bring this large SUV to the Australian market sooner.
The current-generation Nissan Patrol was introduced globally in 2010 and arrived in Australia two years later. The Japanese automaker has made efforts to refresh the Y62 Patrol in recent years, including adding Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity for Australian models.
In the new generation, the Nissan Patrol is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 engine, producing 425 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. The power is sent to both axles via a nine-speed automatic transmission.
In the Middle East, the Nissan Patrol has a starting price of 65,000 USD, ranging up to 105,000 USD for the top-of-the-line model.
