Swimming Against the Tide: Mazda Vietnam Unexpectedly Increases Prices for the Mazda3 and Mazda CX-5 Models

According to the official website, Mazda has adjusted the prices of the Mazda3 and Mazda CX-5 models, going against the market trend.

Specifically, all versions of the Mazda CX-5 have increased in price by 20 million VND, bringing the starting price of the car to 749 million VND, with the highest trim level peaking at 979 million VND. Despite the price increase, experts predict that the sales of the Mazda CX-5 will remain unaffected. This is due to the new price range still being competitive when compared to other C-segment SUVs with gasoline engines, such as the Ford Territory (759 – 889 million VND), Hyundai Tucson (769 – 989 million VND), KIA Sportage (819 – 999 million VND), Mitsubishi Outlander (825 – 950 million VND), and Honda CR-V (1,029 – 1,259 billion VND).

On the other hand, the Mazda3 model has witnessed a price hike for select versions only. Specifically, the Deluxe and Luxury versions of the sedan variant, along with the Luxury and Premium versions of the Sport variant, have all been adjusted, resulting in a 20 million VND increase. Consequently, the new prices for the Mazda3 Sedan Deluxe, Luxury, and Premium stand at 599 million VND, 644 million VND, and 719 million VND, respectively. Similarly, the Mazda3 Sport Luxury and Premium now retail for 659 million VND and 719 million VND.

Despite not offering the most attractive price points, the Mazda3 continues to allure customers with its youthful and modern design. It competes directly with the KIA K3 (549 – 714 million VND), Hyundai Elantra (579 – 769 million VND), Honda Civic (789 – 999 million VND), Toyota Corolla Altis (719 – 870 million VND), and MG5 (523 – 588 million VND).
