In a recent announcement on its official website and fanpage, Suzuki Vietnam cautioned consumers about placing deposits for vehicles not yet available for distribution. The company stated that it has “not released any information related to products not yet distributed in Vietnam, including product details, retail prices, deposit acceptance, or delivery times.” As a result, Suzuki Vietnam advised customers to exercise caution when placing deposits for any models not officially announced by the company.
Additionally, Suzuki Vietnam reminded customers to contact or visit authorized Suzuki dealerships nationwide for support with deposit refunds (if applicable). The company also recommended following its official channels, including the website and verified social media pages, to stay updated with the latest product information before making purchase decisions. Suzuki Vietnam assured that all official information regarding distributed products would be communicated through its authorized channels.
While Suzuki Vietnam’s statement did not mention any specific models, many speculated that the company was alluding to the Swift. This speculation arose due to recent social media reports of Suzuki dealerships in Vietnam unexpectedly taking deposits for the new-generation Swift.
The Swift has been absent from Suzuki Vietnam’s product lineup since the third quarter of 2024, with the company officially announcing the discontinuation of the Swift and Ertiga models in February 2025.
The decision to halt sales of the Swift in Vietnam was not unexpected, given Suzuki’s plans to close its automobile assembly plant in Thailand by the end of this year. If the Swift were to be imported as a completely built unit from Japan instead of Thailand, the price would likely increase significantly due to higher import taxes.
The new Suzuki Swift faces an uncertain future in the Vietnamese market.
Currently, Suzuki Vietnam’s passenger vehicle lineup consists of only two models: the Jimny and the XL7. The Suzuki Ciaz sedan was also discontinued in 2024. While the Jimny is imported from Japan, the XL7 originates from Indonesia.
With the Ertiga no longer in the picture, the XL7 has become Suzuki’s primary model in the Vietnamese market. However, its sales figures are not particularly impressive.
In 2024, Suzuki sold 3,154 units of the XL7 in Vietnam. This number dropped to 299 units in the first two months of 2025.
According to rumors, Suzuki is expected to launch a new SUV model in Vietnam in the future, speculated to be the Suzuki Fronx. The compact SUV with coupe-like styling was recently spotted testing in Indonesia, and the company has plans to introduce it in Thailand in the second half of this year.
