Established in 2017, Aion is the electric vehicle-focused sub-brand of Chinese automaker GAC. Initially called GAC New Energy Automobile, the brand was renamed Aion in November 2020.
Aion first entered the Southeast Asian market in 2023 with its launch in Thailand. In 2024, Aion continued its expansion into other Southeast Asian countries, including Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
In Vietnam, Aion offers two electric vehicle models, the ES and the Y Plus. The Aion ES is a pure electric sedan in the D-segment.

The Aion ES is distributed in Vietnam with only one version, priced at 788 million VND. As an electric vehicle, the Aion ES is exempt from registration fees until February 28, 2027. At the time of the vehicle’s launch, the Aion brand announced that the first 100 customers to purchase the ES would receive a 3-year or 60,000 km free pin charging offer.
