The Omoda and Jaecoo wave continue their assault on the Thai market with the launch of the Omoda C7 at the Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) 2025, just around a year after its introduction in China. Previously, this model was known by a different name, the Omoda 7.

No detailed information has been released as the car has not yet officially launched in Thailand. However, the Omoda C7 on display at the show is the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version, named the Omoda C7 SHS. The “SHS” acronym stands for Chery’s Super Hybrid System.

Omoda C7 PHEV Engine

The Omoda C7 PHEV shares its engine with the Jaecoo J7 PHEV.

The powertrain, also equipped in the Jaecoo J7 PHEV sold in Vietnam, consists of a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine specially designed for hybrid vehicles. This engine has been slightly upgraded to produce a maximum output of 156 hp and 220 Nm of torque. Accompanying it is a powerful 204 hp/310 Nm electric motor and a dedicated 1-speed hybrid transmission (DHT). The total system output reaches 360 hp and 530 Nm, which is 13 hp and 5 Nm more than the Jaecoo J7 PHEV.

Despite having more power, the Omoda C7 PHEV accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 8.5 seconds, the same as the Jaecoo J7 PHEV. It is fitted with a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery named Blade, supplied by BYD, with an initial range of 95 km in pure electric mode and a total range of 1,250 km.

Omoda C7 is the first model specifically designed for the international market under the Omoda & Jaecoo brand, instead of being based on domestic Chery, Exeed, or iCar models as before. True to its name, this C-segment SUV sits between the Omoda 5 and Omoda C9, all three being 5-seaters.

Additionally, it boasts sharp headlights, combined with a parametric grille pattern painted in the body color, reminiscent of the new Lexus RX. Notably, the front bumper features a unique illuminated hexagonal detail. Below is a long central air intake, adorned with decorative fog lights and chrome trim. This detail is absent on the Omoda C7 currently sold in China.

The body is complemented by hidden door handles and bold character lines. The beltline curves gracefully, and the D-pillar is blacked-out, reminiscent of its bigger brothers, the Omoda 5 and C9.

At the rear, the car is fitted with a distinctive ziz-zag-shaped taillight assembly that connects both sides. The 20-inch turbine-style alloy wheels further enhance the vehicle’s exterior design.
