The Omoda and Jaecoo automotive brands are making waves in Thailand with the upcoming launch of the Omoda C7 at the 2025 Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS). This introduction comes just a year after its debut in China, where it was previously known as the Omoda 7.
The Omoda C7 PHEV makes its debut in Southeast Asia.
Although full details are yet to be disclosed ahead of its official launch in Thailand, the Omoda C7 on display at the motor show is the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant, named the Omoda C7 SHS. The “SHS” moniker refers to the Super Hybrid System from its parent company, Chery.
The Omoda C7 PHEV utilizes the same powertrain as the Jaecoo J7 PHEV.
The powertrain, also found in the Jaecoo J7 PHEV sold in Vietnam, consists of a turbocharged 1.5L inline-4 gasoline engine specifically designed for hybrid vehicles. This engine has been mildly upgraded to produce a maximum output of 156 hp and 220 Nm of torque. It is complemented by a powerful 204 hp/310 Nm electric motor and a dedicated DHT hybrid transmission. The total system output reaches 360 hp and 530 Nm, surpassing the Jaecoo J7 PHEV by 13 hp and 5 Nm.
Despite having more power, the Omoda C7 PHEV accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 8.5 seconds, matching the Jaecoo J7 PHEV. It is equipped with a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery named Blade, supplied by BYD, offering an initial pure electric range of 95 km and a total range of 1,250 km.
The Omoda C7 is the first vehicle designed exclusively for international markets under the Omoda and Jaecoo brands, rather than being based on domestic Chery, Exeed, or iCar models. True to its name, this C-segment SUV slots between the Omoda 5 and Omoda C9, all of which are five-seaters.

The Omoda C7 showcases a minimalist yet confident design aesthetic, with some familiar cues from its previously launched siblings. The front end features a sharp shark-nose design and a clamshell hood that creates a distinctive recessed contour.

Additionally, it boasts sharp headlights, a grille with a parametric pattern painted in the body color, reminiscent of the new Lexus RX, and a unique hexagonal illuminated detail in the front bumper. Below is a center air intake that extends across the width of the bumper, adorned with decorative fog lights and chrome trim. This detail is absent on the Omoda C7 currently sold in China.
The side profile includes hidden door handles and prominent character lines. The beltline curves upward, and the D-pillar is blacked out, echoing the design of its larger siblings, the Omoda 5 and C9.

At the rear, the Omoda C7 features distinctive ziz-zag taillights that stretch across the width of the vehicle. The 20-inch alloy wheels with a turbine-inspired design further enhance the SUV’s overall appearance.

Inside, the Omoda C7 embraces a minimalist dashboard design with a dual-screen setup and an oval steering wheel inspired by the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller. The front seats resemble gaming chairs and are partially upholstered in Nubuck leather.
