On March 27, 2025, Honda Vietnam marked a significant milestone in its electrification journey as the first domestically produced electric motorcycle, the ICON e:, rolled off the production line. This event follows the model’s debut at the VMS 2024 exhibition held in October of last year.
The ICON e: is a testament to Honda Vietnam’s remarkable advancements in manufacturing technology. The entire production process, from the initial stages to final assembly, is rigorously controlled to ensure each component meets the highest standards of precision and consistency.
State-of-the-art robotic welding and painting systems, along with advanced part-transporting robots (AMR), optimize the assembly process, reduce production time, and minimize manual errors. Notably, the Nut Runner technology ensures precise tightening of connections, coupled with a modern camera and display system for swift error detection, guaranteeing the highest quality before vehicles leave the factory. The heart of any electric vehicle, the battery, is stored in a specialized warehouse to maintain optimal performance and longevity.

Each completed vehicle undergoes a stringent inspection process adhering to Honda’s standards and Vietnamese regulations, including road testing on a dedicated track.
Designed for high school students, the Honda ICON e: boasts a youthful design and an array of modern safety features. With a seat height of just 742 mm, a ground clearance of 132 mm, and a weight of 89 kg, this electric motorcycle is highly maneuverable on Vietnamese roads.

Powering the Honda ICON e: is an integrated rear-wheel motor with a maximum output of 1.5 kW and a peak torque of 85 Nm, contributing to the vehicle’s sleek design. The lithium-ion 30.6 Ah battery is strategically placed under the floorboard, while the energy control unit (PCU) resides beneath the storage compartment.

A full charge provides a range of 50 km and a top speed of 49 km/h. Notably, the battery can be charged directly on the motorcycle or removed for charging. The battery casing is made of lightweight yet sturdy aluminum alloy and is water-resistant. A rubber handle and charging status indicators are conveniently placed on the battery’s top surface. Charging the battery from 0% to 100% takes 7 hours and 20 minutes, while a quicker option from 25% to 75% takes only 3.5 hours. Honda assures customers that the charger is safe to use even while they sleep.
The Honda ICON e:’s handlebar is equipped with a sensor that detects throttle input. Riders can choose between two riding modes: Standard and ECO. The ECO mode is designed for a gentler riding experience, ideal for novice riders, and it also helps conserve battery power, increasing the range by approximately 15% compared to the Standard mode.
According to Honda’s plans, the ICON e: electric motorcycle will be launched in the Vietnamese market in April 2025, with three variants: Sports, Special, and Premium. The Sports version will be available in gray and green, while the Special edition features a matte silver color. The Premium variant offers three color options: black-gray, red-gray, and white-gray.
