Nissan has unveiled a series of announcements during its financial results briefing, including cost-cutting plans and insights into six new models expected to launch between 2025 and 2026. This follows the cancellation of its merger plans with Honda.
According to Carscoops, Nissan will introduce a plug-in hybrid version of the X-Trail, named the Rogue PHEV. Interestingly, the design of this new model bears a close resemblance to the Mitsubishi Outlander.
The current Rogue, now in its fifth year, shares a platform and some technical specifications with the Outlander but boasts a distinct exterior design.
In addition to the Rogue PHEV, Nissan plans to launch the new Rogue e-Power in 2026. This mid-life upgrade will feature Nissan’s third-generation e-Power powertrain, offering 20% higher performance than its predecessor.

Beyond the Rogue lineup, Nissan intends to bring back the Leaf and introduce a new small electric hatchback for the European market. This vehicle will be developed by Renault and is likely to incorporate technology from the Renault 5 E-Tech.
As part of its plans, Nissan will also launch the N7, an electric sedan exclusively for the Chinese market.
It appears that Nissan is striving to regain its lost market share after the failed merger with its domestic rival, Honda. The company had a challenging year, with its net income dropping by 93.5% to USD 131 million in the first half of 2024. By the end of the year, Nissan’s profit had decreased by 74% to USD 950 million, resulting in a profit margin of 0.5%.
