The Omoda C7 PHEV is positioned between the Chery Omoda 5 and Omoda C9, offering a plug-in hybrid system with an impressive range of up to 1,250 km and packed with advanced technologies.

Making its debut at the ongoing Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS), the Omoda C7 (also known as Omoda 7) has been unveiled by Omoda & Jaecoo, about a year after its introduction in China. The C7 is the first model exclusively designed by the duo for international markets, featuring a unique minimalist aesthetic.

In terms of dimensions, the C7 measures 4,621 mm in length, 1,872 mm in width, and 1,673 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. These proportions place it squarely in the C-segment SUV/CUV category, alongside competitors such as the Honda CR-V and Hyundai Tucson.

The C7’s design language is contemporary and sleek, evident in its shark-inspired front end, featuring a borderless grille akin to the new Lexus RX. Accompanying this are sharp, slender headlights and a rectangular central air intake similar to its sibling, the Omoda E5.

From the side profile, the C7 sports traditional door handles instead of the hidden type favored in China. It rides on 20-inch turbine alloy wheels, with a blacked-out window line and D-pillar borrowed from the Omoda 5 and C9. At the rear, the taillights span the width of the vehicle, featuring a unique zig-zag effect.

The modern aesthetic continues inside, highlighted by a PlayStation 5-inspired steering wheel, designed for an intuitive and engaging driving experience. The seats are similarly inspired by gaming chairs, upholstered in nubuck leather with cross-stitching for a sporty feel.

The centerpiece of the dashboard is a 15.6-inch infotainment screen with a 2.5K resolution and 1,000-nit brightness. This display can slide over to the passenger side, transforming into a co-driver entertainment screen.

Other notable features include an in-cabin fragrance system, a 12+2 Sony sound system, and active noise cancellation technology.

Beneath the sleek exterior lies a chassis derived from the Omoda 5 but enhanced with dual-hydraulic suspension and electronic brakes. The C7 also boasts an impressive array of 18 active safety features.

Powering the C7 is a plug-in hybrid system, combining a turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and battery pack. In pure electric mode, it can travel up to 95 km, while in hybrid mode, it achieves a fuel efficiency of 4.89 liters per 100 km and a maximum range of 1,250 km.
