Nissan has recently unveiled the designs of several models as part of its large-scale product campaign, including the X-Trail, Almera, Navara, and a new version of the Leaf. These vehicles are expected to be launched in global markets during the 2025–2027 financial years.
Nissan X-Trail
Nissan is focusing on its e-Power hybrid technology by developing an entirely new third generation of the system. Leading the models equipped with e-Power, at least in some markets, is the fifth-generation Nissan X-Trail.
The new Nissan X-Trail.
The revealed images show that this C-segment SUV retains a similar shape to the current generation. However, the front end adopts the style of newer Nissan SUVs, such as the Qashqai. A prominent feature is the 5-point LED daytime running lights neatly integrated into the broad V-shaped grille.
Unlike the fourth-generation X-Trail, the slim projector headlights are now positioned higher on a separate strip, similar to the Murano. The X-Trail will be the first vehicle to feature the e-Power system in the US, marking a strategic shift for Nissan after acknowledging a misjudgment of the demand for hybrid vehicles in this market.
The third-generation e-Power system will employ a dedicated 1.5L gasoline engine, replacing the current VC-Turbo, paired with a new 5-in-1 electric motor. It will share critical components with Nissan’s latest all-electric powertrain. Like the current system, only the electric motor directly drives the wheels.
In addition to the e-Power version, the new X-Trail will also offer gasoline and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options. Nissan is currently rushing to develop the PHEV version based on the Mitsubishi Outlander. Essentially, the upcoming Nissan X-Trail PHEV will be a rebadged Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
Nissan Almera
Along with the new X-Trail, the Almera is part of Nissan’s large-scale product campaign. This plan involves expanding the Almera’s market presence in more Latin American countries this year.
Compared to the current model, the newly revealed Almera has a significantly different appearance. Based on Nissan’s teaser images, it is recognizable as the fourth-generation Almera, retaining its familiar overall shape, mirror placement, triangular plastic trim on the A-pillar, and distinctive character line near the C-pillar. It appears that the new Almera will be a facelifted version rather than an entirely new generation.
Nissan Almera Facelift.
However, the front end has been completely redesigned, taking inspiration from the X-Trail. The most noticeable influence is the split headlights with a “brow” style LED daytime running lights above. Meanwhile, the Nissan logo has been moved up, closer to the hood, instead of being within the grille as before. The rear also sees a change with a prominent character line running from the taillights down to the rear bumper.
While detailed engine information is not yet available, it is likely that the Almera version for the Southeast Asian market will continue to use the old turbocharged 3-cylinder gasoline engine, producing 100 hp and 152 Nm of torque, paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). However, with Nissan’s focus on hybrid technology, it is possible that this B-segment sedan could be equipped with the e-Power system to enhance its competitiveness against rivals like the Honda City e:HEV.
Given the Almera’s strong sales performance in Southeast Asia, the upgraded model could be launched in the region soon. The most recent facelift for this model was introduced in Southeast Asia in 2023.
Nissan Navara
In addition to the X-Trail and Almera, Nissan has also revealed images of the Navara mid-life facelift. While the released images are not very clear, they do indicate that this pickup truck will feature a completely redesigned front end, improved cargo bed, and a more modern interior.
Nissan Navara Facelift.
The Nissan Navara is expected to be officially launched in the Thai market in early 2027, where it will compete against rivals such as the Isuzu D-Max, Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi Triton, and Ford Ranger.
Nissan Leaf 2026
The Nissan Leaf is already a well-known name globally, being one of the first electric vehicles on the market and achieving considerable success. To maintain the appeal of this model, Nissan is preparing to launch the third-generation Leaf.
Unlike its predecessor, which was a hatchback, the Nissan Leaf 2026 transforms into a compact SUV, similar in style to its sibling, the Ariya. It appears that the design of the new Leaf draws inspiration from the 2021 Chill-Out Concept.
Nissan Leaf 2026 switches from a hatchback to an SUV design.
Similar to the concept version, the Nissan Leaf 2026 has an inverted trapezoidal front end, combined with a full-width LED daytime running light strip and a unique stacked rectangular pattern. Below is a symmetrically designed air intake that complements the upper grille.
Additionally, the Nissan Leaf features a rising beltline towards the rear, a sloping roofline in the style of a coupe, aerodynamically optimized door handles, 19-inch alloy wheels with a cross-shaped design, and a panoramic sunroof.
Nissan has not yet disclosed specific technical details about the new Leaf. However, it is known that the vehicle will utilize the CMF-EV platform, shared with the Nissan Ariya. Thanks to improved aerodynamics, more efficient battery management, and a new 3-in-1 electric powertrain, this electric SUV promises a significantly longer range than its predecessor.
The new Nissan Leaf will use the same platform as the Ariya electric vehicle.
The Nissan Leaf 2026 will first be introduced in the North American market in the upcoming financial year, followed by Japan and Europe. It is then expected to reach Oceania and potentially Asia in the 2026 financial year.
After facing financial challenges, a failed merger with Honda, and leadership changes, Nissan is pinning high hopes on the Leaf 2026 to usher in a new era for its electric vehicle lineup.
More details about these models will be revealed in the future!
