The surge in pre-orders for VinFast Green during the early reservation period not only showcases the appeal of products offering significant economic benefits to drivers but also signals a shift towards the electric vehicle era in the ride-hailing tech market.
Pre-order volume surpasses annual sales of other brands
According to VinFast automobile distributors, even after the early sales period ended, there was still a high number of customers visiting the dealerships to place orders for the VinFast Green models. This explains why, within just 72 hours, the number of orders for the Minio Green, Herio Green, Nerio Green, and Limo Green reached a staggering 45,813.
Mr. Dinh Van Nam, an observer of the automobile industry, described this figure as “unprecedented” in Vietnam. Notably, these orders are non-refundable, indicating genuine purchase intentions.
In addition to individual customers, Mr. Nam mentioned that there were over 13,000 orders from transportation businesses. He believes that people are eagerly awaiting the VinFast Green models, especially the 7-seater MPV, for business purposes. As the models become more widely available through GSM and VinFast showrooms, the number of orders is expected to grow exponentially.
Reviewer Phung The Trong shares this optimism. He points out that many small businesses and even individuals placed orders for 10-50 vehicles during the early sales period. Therefore, the sales volume for these models in 2025 is expected to be exceptionally high.
“VinFast deserves the number one spot. No other company can change this outcome. In fact, VinFast’s sales volume for these models could rank in the top 1-2 positions when compared to the annual sales of other brands,” said Phung The Trong.
Regarding the reasons behind the success of VinFast Green, experts highlight two key factors with immense “destructive power” for any potential car buyer: competitive pricing and attractive policies. In fact, the pricing of VinFast models alone is enough to attract a wide range of customers, especially the Minio, a small-sized vehicle priced at only 269 million VND, and the Limo Green, a 7-seater MPV priced at 749 million VND.
“Many drivers have told me that they never thought they could afford to buy a car at such a price. VinFast Green has removed the biggest obstacle for car buyers—the initial investment cost. This unprecedented approach has yielded results never seen before in the Vietnamese market,” said Mr. Nguyen Minh Trieu, a car dealer in Ho Chi Minh City.
Electric vehicles are taking over the ride-hailing market; latecomers will be left behind
According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Trieu, while attractive policies may act as a short-term catalyst for purchasing decisions, VinFast Green vehicles also offer long-term profitability.
He uses the Limo Green as an example, a model that many drivers refer to as their “dream car.” Compared to its competitors, such as the Mitsubishi Xpander and Toyota Innova, the VinFast electric vehicle has a longer wheelbase, providing a more spacious and comfortable cabin for passengers. With a power output of 150 kW, the Limo Green outperforms the two gasoline-powered models and is sure to be the preferred choice for most drivers as a more powerful engine means better performance in all terrain.
Despite having a more powerful engine, the Limo Green excels in fuel efficiency. “An Xpander, for instance, consumes at least 7-8 million VND per month in fuel, which amounts to nearly 100 million VND per year. For drivers who cover more distance, this cost can double. In contrast, the Limo Green offers significant savings, especially with the free charging policy until mid-2027. After this period, the actual cost of charging will still be only a quarter of what a gasoline vehicle in the same segment would consume,” explained Mr. Trieu.
Beyond its money-making potential, Mr. Trieu also mentions other factors that give drivers the confidence to invest in the VinFast Green: the proven durability and quality of VinFast products, as attested by tens of thousands of car owners, and the extensive network of service centers and charging stations across the country, which continues to expand rapidly, ensuring maximum convenience for electric vehicle users.
“VinFast Green will continue to attract a large number of customers in the coming time. We will witness an explosion of electric vehicles in the ride-hailing market in the near future,” predicted Mr. Trieu.
Sharing this view, reviewer Phung The Trong believes that the shift to electric vehicles for ride-hailing services is inevitable. Not only individual drivers but also businesses will accelerate this transition because, with the rising fuel costs, they will struggle to remain competitive in the current market. This trend is already observable in several countries worldwide. “Those who are late to embrace electrification will fall behind and lose out,” he emphasized.
