A tanker truck carrying oil caught fire on the Noi Bai – Lao Cai Highway in the early morning of April 1st, causing traffic congestion in Tran Yen district, Yen Bai province. The driver was trapped in the cabin and perished, and another individual was injured.

According to the operation and maintenance unit of the Noi Bai-Lao Cai Highway, where the accident occurred, the oil tanker lost control and collided with a roadside signpost before bursting into flames. The driver was trapped in the cabin and died, and there was another casualty.

The accident occurred at Km 124+500, heading from Lao Cai to Hanoi, with flames and smoke rising high into the air, up to 100 meters, visible to drivers from a great distance.

Upon receiving the report, the Highway Patrol Team No.1 (Department of Traffic Police) arrived at the scene, coordinating with the fire brigade and the highway management unit to extinguish the fire and divert traffic away from the area.

Initial reports indicate that it was a tanker carrying oil. The fire then spread to the highway surface, blocking traffic heading from Lao Cai to Hanoi. An ambulance was also dispatched to the scene.

By 9 am, the authorities had extinguished the fire and were organizing traffic diversions for vehicles.
