Toyota has a tendency to fine-tune its iconic vehicles rather than redesign them entirely, and the latest upgrade to the Land Cruiser 300 Series is a testament to this. The Japanese automaker has just introduced a mild refresh of this large SUV in its domestic market.
The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 makes its debut in the Japanese market.
The 2025 version of the Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 features no design changes compared to its August 2021 release. Instead, Toyota has focused on enhancing the technology of this vehicle.

The most noticeable changes come in the interior of the Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 2025. The mid-range and high-grade versions are now equipped with a 12.3-inch TFT digital instrument cluster with a customizable interface. Meanwhile, the standard version features a 7-inch screen in the instrument cluster.

The vehicle’s infotainment system comes with an 8-inch touchscreen as standard, but customers can opt for a larger 12.3-inch screen if desired.

To address the issue of the Land Cruiser being the most stolen vehicle in Japan, Toyota has added a host of new anti-theft features. First is the “My Car Start Lock” system, which allows owners to remotely lock the engine via their smartphones, preventing thieves from starting the vehicle.
Additionally, all versions are now equipped with a push-button start with fingerprint recognition, a system that checks for the proximity of the smart key, tilt sensor alerts, and an engine immobilizer.

To comply with the latest safety regulations in Japan, the new Land Cruiser LC300 has been upgraded with a collision-mitigating brake system and pre-collision safety features that can detect cyclists. The vehicle also includes an event data recorder and improved network security.

Under the hood, there are no changes. The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 continues to use a 3.5L twin-turbocharged V6 gasoline engine and a 3.3L V6 diesel engine, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system. However, Toyota states that the diesel engine now complies with Japan’s latest emission standards.

Pricing for the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 in the Japanese market starts at 5,252,500 Yen (approximately $40,500) for the standard gasoline-powered GX trim. Meanwhile, the GR Sport trim with the diesel engine goes up to 8,136,800 Yen (around $62,500). Compared to the previous version, prices have increased by 130,900 to 152,500 Yen (approximately $1,000 to $1,200), depending on the trim level.

However, the price increase is not the biggest concern for Japanese customers, at least not at the moment. Demand for the Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 far outstrips supply in the domestic market, resulting in a years-long waiting list. To manage the overwhelming number of orders, Toyota has decided to temporarily halt new orders until they can fulfill the backlog.
The automaker has also issued an official apology on their website: “Thank you for your interest in our products. The Land Cruiser 300 has been upgraded to comply with new regulations. We have temporarily suspended new orders to prioritize production for customers who have already placed orders and are waiting for delivery. We understand that many customers in Japan are still waiting for their vehicles, and we will do our best to maximize production and deliver them as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.”
The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 is currently unavailable for purchase.
