After causing a series of accidents that left one person dead, the car driver deliberately fled through multiple districts of Nghe An province.
On April 5, the Investigation Agency of the Nghe An Provincial Police initiated a criminal case of “Violation of regulations on road traffic participation” related to a serious traffic accident that occurred on the evening of April 4 in Hung Tay, Hung Nguyen district, leaving one dead and two injured. The perpetrator, Tran Xuan Thuy (42 years old, residing in Xom 10, Nghi Van commune, Nghi Loc district), was identified as the driver responsible for the incident.
According to the investigation agency, at around 6:45 PM on April 4, 2025, in Nghi Trung commune, Nghi Loc district, a car with license plate 37A-482.52 driven by Tran Xuan Thuy collided with a parked car on the roadside. Instead of stopping to address the situation, the driver chose to flee the scene.
During his escape, Thuy continuously caused accidents in Nghi Lien commune (Vinh city) and Hung Tay commune (Hung Nguyen district). Specifically, his car hit a bicycle and two motorbikes, resulting in one death and two injuries. After causing these consecutive accidents, the car continued towards Nam Dan district, even though one of the front tires had been reduced to its rim. However, the vehicle was intercepted by authorities and forced to stop in Xuan Hoa commune, Nam Dan district (Nghe An province).
The breathalyzer test revealed that Tran Xuan Thuy was significantly over the legal alcohol limit, registering 0.979 mg/liter of alcohol in his breath. He has been criminally detained for investigation.
The Nghe An Provincial Police Investigation Agency is expediting the consolidation of the case file and evidence to clarify Thuy’s actions and handle them in accordance with the law.
