The Ford Ranger Super Duty boasts exceptional towing capabilities, even rivaling its bigger brother, the F-150.
Ford has just unveiled its 2026 Ranger Super Duty, an upgraded version of its best-selling one-ton pickup truck with performance comparable to the F-150.
The Ford Ranger Super Duty features a higher and more robust chassis compared to the standard model. The suspension, brakes, and underbody protection have been adjusted to accommodate the increased load capacity of the Super Duty. While Ford has not released detailed specifications, the Ranger Super Duty has a width equivalent to the Raptor (2,028 mm).
It is also taller and longer than the Raptor, measuring 1,926 mm in height and 5,380 mm in length.
The Super Duty has several easily identifiable features that set it apart from other Ranger variants. At the front, the grille and bumper have been redesigned for added durability, and the hood now sports a “Super Duty” decal. Elsewhere, the Ranger Super Duty comes standard with a custom snorkel, enabling it to traverse deep waters without issues. It also features larger side mirrors.
The Ford Ranger Super Duty is equipped with 18-inch eight-lug wheels wrapped in 33-inch all-terrain tires. According to the manufacturer, it has a larger fuel tank capacity of 130 liters, allowing for a range of over 1,000 kilometers.
However, the most notable feature of the Ranger Super Duty is its impressive towing capacity of up to 4,500 kilograms, while other versions max out at 3,500 kilograms. Additionally, the vehicle’s gross vehicle mass (GVM) has been increased from 3,060-3,350 kilograms to 4,500 kilograms in the Super Duty model. Lastly, the combined gross vehicle and trailer weight rating (GCM) has been bumped up from 6,400 to 8,000 kilograms.
As a specialized workhorse, the Ranger Super Duty also includes corner weight scales, allowing users to check for overloading through Ford’s Sync infotainment system. It also features an intelligent towing system that alerts the driver if the weight exceeds the recommended limit for safe towing.
Ford has not yet disclosed all the details about the Ranger Super Duty’s powertrain, but we know it will be powered by a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine. In the current Ranger, this engine produces 247 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. The Super Duty will also come with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Ford has stated that they have made hardware changes to the V6 engine to improve reliability, as previous versions were prone to overheating and leaks.
The Ford Ranger Super Duty will also be equipped with advanced safety features found on the standard Ranger, including automatic emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control, a surround-view monitor, and blind-spot detection.
