A 15-year-old performs a wheelie on Vietnam’s infamous Vi Ô Lắc Pass, prompting police warning and a hefty fine for the teenager’s father.

On April 3, a 20-second clip surfaced on TikTok, showcasing a group of teenagers gathering on the notorious Vi Ô Lắc Pass in Quảng Ngãi Province. The video captures one of the youths performing a wheelie on a motorcycle without a license plate, cheered on by the others.

On April 5, the Quảng Ngãi Provincial Traffic Police announced that they had identified the teenager performing the stunt and fined the owner of the motorcycle, who happens to be the teenager’s father, approximately $600.

The rider has been identified as Đ.H.B. (15 years old), a resident of Sơn Kỳ Commune, Sơn Hà District, Quảng Ngãi Province. B. admitted to his violation during the police interview. The traffic police issued an administrative violation notice to B. for the following infractions: performing a wheelie; riding without a license plate, a left-side mirror, and being under the legal age to drive a motorcycle.

Additionally, the police summoned and fined the motorcycle’s owner, Mr. Đ.V.N. (B.’s father), for allowing an unlicensed minor to ride his vehicle and for failing to attach a license plate. The total fine amounted to VND 14 million (approximately $600).

The Quảng Ngãi Provincial Traffic Police are currently in the process of confiscating the violating vehicle in accordance with Vietnamese traffic laws.
