Admiring the One-of-a-Kind Rolls-Royce Phantom Inspired by Cherry Blossoms

The cherry blossom, or Sakura, holds a special cultural significance in Japan, often appearing in art, literature, and philosophy, and symbolizing the arrival of spring. These delicate flowers bloom for only about a week each year, serving as a reminder of the transience of life and the value of time.

The Japanese client wanted to create a Phantom that embodied the spirit of Hanami, intending it to be a legacy for future generations of their family. Bespoke commissions are already highly expensive, and this project was no exception. The design process began several years ago when the Rolls-Royce team met with the client in Japan to understand their vision and desires.

The Cherry Blossom Phantom features a Crystal over Arctic White paint job, with a hand-painted coachline that tapers towards the rear doors. Under the A-pillar is a subtle cherry blossom motif, a nod to the car’s inspiration. The exterior painting process, like all aspects of the car’s creation, was meticulously crafted, showcasing Rolls-Royce’s attention to detail and personalization.

The exterior design is elegant and understated, maintaining the distinctive Phantom style. The Cherry Blossom Phantom is a testament to how cultural symbols can be seamlessly integrated into high-tech, personalized products.

The interior of the Cherry Blossom Phantom is a showcase of craftsmanship and subtle details. Embroidered headliner depicts the image of sitting under a cherry blossom tree during Hanami, with over 250,000 stitches creating a stunning floral display.

The falling petals motif is also featured on the rear doors and the Privacy Suite divider, separating the front and rear compartments. Rolls-Royce worked closely with the client to bring these elements to life, with each three-dimensional stitch requiring collaboration between designers and artisans.
