According to Carscoops, Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown has just announced a settlement with Darcars Honda, in which customers from the state will be refunded a total of up to several million dollars.
It is unclear exactly how much this dealership has to refund, but it appears that Darcars Honda has engaged in some unhealthy business practices.
Specifically, the dealership was found to have engaged in “deceptive and unfair trade practices”, causing harm to customers. Darcars Honda was accused of charging a “sales commission” of 2% on the vehicle price, which was neither a legitimate commission nor a legally permitted action.
The dealership was also accused of advertising vehicles at a lower price than the actual selling price, excluding “hidden fees” and optional packages. Darcars Honda is said to have added “unwanted equipment and products” to the sales transactions.
The Attorney General’s office stated that the dealership failed to comply with laws related to disclosing handling fees and providing mandatory price quotes for each new car offered for sale. The sales transaction documents also did not include a detailed list, including prices, of what the customer was receiving.

Customers were allegedly defrauded through “undisclosed price increases and inadvertently purchased additional products”. On Google Maps, many reviews reflect similar situations.
“We were charged a $600 commission that we didn’t know about until we got home. This fee was not included in the agreed-upon purchase price. When I requested the form they used to list the charges, the dealership stated that they couldn’t provide it as it was a regulation,” shared a customer about their experience at Darcars Honda.
Darcars Honda has been prohibited from repeating the above-mentioned behaviors and has been ordered to refund all money received from customers. According to Carscoops, the dealership also agreed to pay $3 million to the Attorney General’s office.
“Buying a car is one of the most expensive transactions that a person will ever make. Maryland residents should not be paying more due to illegal dealership sales practices,” affirmed Attorney General Anthony Brown.
