Maserati has decided to cancel its plans for the MC20 EV Forgore variant, choosing to discontinue the production of an all-electric version of this supercar. According to Autocar, the main reason behind this decision is a lack of customer interest. Enthusiasts of speed still favor internal combustion engines, especially Maserati’s V6 Nettuno engine.

Previously, when speaking to Motor1, a company employee shared that market research indicated MC20 customers were not ready to make the switch to electric vehicles in the near future. Before the cancellation, the MC20 Forgore was expected to feature a 3-electric motor powertrain, producing over 700 horsepower. It was anticipated to be the fastest car in the brand’s lineup upon its debut.

Maserati’s all-electric Forgore line still includes three models: the Grecale, GranTurismo, and GranCabrio. The brand is now focusing its efforts on expanding the production of the MC20 GT2 Stradale in Modena, which is slated for a North American launch in the second quarter. This model is equipped with a twin-turbocharged V6 engine, delivering 631 horsepower, and is expected to be priced at approximately 440,544 USD. The total weight of the vehicle is roughly 1,588 kg.

2024 presented challenges for the Italian brand, as global sales dipped to 11,300 units, a 57% decrease compared to the same period in 2023. This figure even fell short of Ferrari’s global sales, a supercar brand with a smaller product range and higher price tags. Despite these setbacks, Maserati remains optimistic about 2025, backed by new strategies, with the MC20 GT2 Stradale expected to be a standout performer in the supercar market.

In Vietnam, the Maserati MC20 is available in two versions: the coupe and the Cielo convertible, with starting prices of approximately 16 billion VND.
