Toyota Vietnam has issued a recall for the Toyota Alphard MPVs in the country. This recall affects 10 units of the “land jet” Alphard, all produced between November 2, 2020, and November 21, 2020.

According to the Japanese automaker, the affected vehicles are equipped with a front hood cover. During use, this part may deform due to temperature changes, leading to cracks and a loose hood cover.

If the vehicle is continued to be used in this state, the hood cover may detach from the vehicle, obstructing other vehicles on the road.

Toyota will notify the owners of the affected Alphard vehicles to bring their cars in for inspection. Based on the inspection results, necessary repairs will be carried out, including replacing the hood cover. The estimated time for this repair is approximately 24 minutes per vehicle.

The Toyota Alphard is imported directly from Japan and is priced at VND 4.51 billion and VND 4.615 billion for the two available variants.

In 2022, Toyota sold 159 units of the Alphard in Vietnam, including 18 units of the HEV model. In the first month of 2023, Toyota sold 14 units of the Alphard.

Competing in the billion-dollar MPV segment in Vietnam, the Toyota Alphard faces rivals such as the Lexus LM, Mercedes V-Class, Volkswagen Viloran, GAC M8, and Kia Carnival.
