The highly anticipated new-generation Mazda CX-5 and CX-3 SUVs are almost here, with Japanese auto magazines offering a sneak peek at what we can expect in 2026-2027. While the CX-5 remains largely unchanged from its predecessor, the CX-3 boasts a fresh new look.

The front of the CX-3 has been revitalized with a youthful vibe. The grille now sports a honeycomb pattern instead of horizontal slats, and its shape has been transformed into a sleek pentagon. The daytime running lights and turn signals have also been redesigned, and the front bumper features bold cuts but ditches the chrome details.

The metallic accents along the sides and rear of the vehicle have been removed, giving the SUV a more youthful appearance while toning down the opulence of the previous model. The new-generation wheel arches with their thick boomerang pattern also signal a shift in Mazda’s design approach.

At the rear, the central Mazda logo has been replaced with a stylized brand name, and the taillights now mirror the design of the front lights. In line with the rest of the body, the metallic accents on the rear bumper have been eliminated, and the rear diffuser has been widened. The rear fog lights have also been repositioned away from the single exhaust pipes.

It remains to be seen whether the interior design and engine of the new Mazda CX-3 will also undergo changes. However, these exterior updates certainly spark excitement for a more modern and trend-forward Mazda lineup.

In Vietnam, the Mazda CX-3 is positioned in the B-segment SUV category, with prices ranging from VND 522 million to VND 641 million. Despite its competitive pricing, the CX-3 struggles to compete with rival SUVs in the same segment due to its lackluster design. These competitors include the Mitsubishi Xforce (VND 599 million to VND 705 million), Toyota Yaris Cross (VND 605 million to VND 705 million), Lynk & Co 06 (VND 729 million), and Omoda C5 (VND 589 million to VND 669 million).

In the first month of this year, Mazda sold only 165 units of the CX-3, placing it near the bottom of the sales chart for its segment. Its sibling, the CX-30, fared even worse, with just 102 units sold.
