Compact SUV Sales Table for March 2025 (units: cars)
Mazda CX-5: 1,099 units sold
In March 2025, Mazda sold 1,099 units of the CX-5 in Vietnam, achieving a growth rate of 19%. With this performance, the Mazda CX-5 maintained its position as the best-selling model in the compact SUV segment. It also ranked among the top 10 best-selling automobiles in Vietnam for March 2025.
Mazda CX-5
The Mazda CX-5’s popularity in Vietnam can be attributed to its attractive pricing, ranging from VND 749 million to VND 979 million. Notably, during April 2025, dealerships offered discounts, reducing the price to a record low of VND 694-814 million for 2024 VIN cars. Additionally, the 2025 VIN CX-5 also received official discounts, albeit at a lower rate, resulting in prices ranging from VND 714 million to VND 839 million.
With promotions from both the brand and dealerships, the Mazda CX-5 is expected to continue its sales momentum in April 2025. Besides its competitive pricing, this compact SUV also appeals to customers with its design that suits Vietnamese tastes, as well as its comprehensive convenience and safety features.
In Vietnam, the Mazda CX-5 is available with two gasoline engine options: a 2.0L and a 2.5L. These engines produce 154 horsepower/200 Nm and 188 horsepower/252 Nm, respectively. The engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
Hyundai Tucson: 1,046 units sold
March 2025 witnessed an impressive growth for the Hyundai Tucson, with 1,046 units sold, representing a 159.5% increase compared to the previous month. As a result, the Hyundai Tucson climbed to the second position in the compact SUV segment, surpassing the Ford Territory and Honda CR-V.
Hyundai Tucson
Similar to its rival, the Mazda CX-5, the Hyundai Tucson appeals to Vietnamese customers with its affordable pricing, ranging from VND 769 million to VND 979 million for four different versions. During April 2025, the brand also offered cash discounts for this model.
Additionally, the Hyundai Tucson boasts a distinctive design, spacious interior thanks to its large wheelbase, a wide range of convenience and safety features, and diverse engine options.
Specifically, the car is available with three engine choices: the Smartstream 2.0L MPI gasoline engine, the Smartstream Diesel D2.0 engine, and the Smartstream 1.6L T-GDi turbocharged gasoline engine. These engines deliver 156 horsepower/192 Nm, 186 horsepower/416 Nm, and 180 horsepower/265 Nm, respectively. They are paired with either a 6-speed automatic, an 8-speed automatic, or a 7-speed DCT transmission.
Ford Territory: 931 units sold
Ranking third in the compact SUV segment for March 2025 was the Ford Territory, with 931 units sold, representing a growth rate of 100.6%.
Ford Territory
The Ford Territory maintains stable sales in the Vietnamese market due to its competitive pricing, ranging from VND 759 million to VND 889 million. It also offers a modern design, spacious interior, and comparable features to its rivals. Similar to the Hyundai Tucson, the Ford Territory currently has attractive promotions at dealerships, with discounts of up to VND 70 million. After the discount, the price drops to a range of VND 689 million to VND 819 million.
Additionally, Ford is offering financial support of up to VND 30 million for customers purchasing the Territory Trend, Titanium, and Sport versions in April 2025. The Titanium X, the most premium version, receives support equivalent to VND 20 million when purchased through a bank loan. All versions of the car also benefit from interest rate support of up to 1% from Ford’s partner banks.
These moves could be a strategy to clear inventory and make way for the new version of the Ford Territory, which was recently spotted during road tests in Vietnam.
The Ford Territory in Vietnam is powered by a 1.5L EcoBoost 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 160 horsepower and 248 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Honda CR-V: 473 units sold
In March 2025, Honda sold 473 units of the CR-V in Vietnam, a slight increase of 15.3%. Among these, 125 units were of the hybrid version. With these results, the Honda CR-V dropped to fourth place in the compact SUV segment.
Honda CR-V
In April 2025, the Honda CR-V no longer enjoys a 50% reduction in registration fees as before. Instead, the brand offers a one-year physical damage insurance and a fixed interest rate of 3.9% for the first 12 months when purchased through VP Bank and VIB.
The Honda CR-V does not have a pricing advantage in Vietnam, with prices ranging from VND 1.029 billion to VND 1.259 billion. However, it still attracts customers with its eye-catching design and comprehensive features. Additionally, it is one of the few models in the segment to offer a hybrid engine option for better fuel efficiency.
Specifically, the Honda CR-V e:HEV RS is equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 146 horsepower, combined with two electric motors for a total output of 181 horsepower. The total power output is 204 horsepower with a maximum torque of 335 Nm.
Meanwhile, the other three versions of the Honda CR-V use a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that delivers 188 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
Kia Sportage: 198 units sold
The Kia Sportage maintained its position as the fifth best-selling model in the compact SUV segment, with 198 units sold in March 2025, representing a growth rate of 12.5%.
Kia Sportage
Compared to its launch in Vietnam in 2022, the Kia Sportage now offers more attractive pricing. On the Kia Vietnam website, the Sportage is available in six versions, with prices ranging from VND 819 million to VND 999 million. Currently, the brand is offering a one-year physical damage insurance for the 2.0D Signature and 2.0D Signature X-Line versions.
Overall, the Kia Sportage’s pricing is not particularly competitive in this segment. Additionally, its exterior design is considered less appealing to the majority of consumers.
In terms of engines, the Kia Sportage shares the same options as the Hyundai Tucson, as both models are produced by the Hyundai Motor Group.
Mitsubishi Outlander: 101 units sold
The model with the highest growth rate in the compact SUV segment for March 2025 was the Mitsubishi Outlander, with a sales figure of 101 units, representing a 197% increase compared to the previous month.
Mitsubishi Outlander
In April 2025, the Mitsubishi Outlander surprisingly did not have any official promotions, unlike previous months. This could potentially impact its sales performance for April.
The Mitsubishi Outlander is priced from VND 825 million to VND 950 million for two versions. In addition to its less competitive pricing, the Outlander has not received any significant design or feature upgrades for a long time. These factors contribute to its consistent ranking at the bottom of the compact SUV segment in terms of sales.
Under the hood of the Mitsubishi Outlander in Vietnam is a 2.0L MIVEC 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 145 horsepower and 196 Nm of torque. It is paired with a CVT transmission.
