D-segment SUV Sales Table for March 2025 (units: vehicles)

Ford Everest: 1,074 units

The Ford Everest continues to showcase its undeniable appeal in March 2025, selling 1,074 units, a growth of 41.3%. Not only does it maintain its top position in the D-segment SUV market, but it has also entered the top 10 best-selling cars in the overall market.

The key to the Ford Everest’s success lies in its attractive design, comprehensive convenience features, and safety equipment. The vehicle is currently offered in 7 different versions, with prices ranging from VND 1.099 billion to VND 1.545 billion. The Sport Special Edition is the newest addition to the lineup, priced at VND 1.199 billion.

Ford Everest Sport Special Edition

The Ford Everest in Vietnam offers two diesel engine options, both 2.0L 4-cylinder. The first is a single-turbo engine that produces a maximum of 170 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The second is a twin-turbo engine that generates 210 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and is exclusive to the high-end models.

Hyundai Santa Fe: 408 units

Similar to its rival, the Ford Everest, the Hyundai Santa Fe also witnessed a growth in sales last March. With 408 units sold, an increase of 80.5%, it secured the second position in the D-segment SUV category.

Hyundai Santa Fe

This April, Hyundai is offering discounts on three versions of the Santa Fe: 2.5 Prestige, 2.5 Turbo Calligraphy, and 2.5 Exclusive. However, this program is only applicable to vehicles manufactured in 2024.

Since the introduction of the new generation last year, the Hyundai Santa Fe has maintained steady sales. It is currently available in 5 versions, with prices ranging from VND 1.069 billion to VND 1.365 billion.

The new-generation Hyundai Santa Fe boasts a unique design, spacious interior, and abundant features. Additionally, it offers two new gasoline engine options.

The first is a Smartstream 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated 2.5L engine that produces a maximum of 194 horsepower and 246 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and is available with either front-wheel drive or the 4-wheel drive HTRAC system.

The second engine is a Smartstream 4-cylinder, turbocharged 2.5L engine that generates 281 horsepower and 422 Nm of torque. The power is transmitted to the wheels through an 8-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission and the HTRAC all-wheel drive system.

Toyota Fortuner: 242 units

Ranking third in the D-segment SUV market for March was the Toyota Fortuner, with a sales growth of 50.3%, totaling 242 units.

Toyota Fortuner

The Toyota Fortuner is currently priced between VND 1.055 billion and VND 1.35 billion in Vietnam. Despite a small price difference compared to its competitors, the model has lost some of its appeal in the Vietnamese market due to a lack of recent upgrades.

The Toyota Fortuner offers three engine options: a 2.4L diesel, a 2.8L diesel, and a 2.7L gasoline engine. The respective performance figures for these engines are 147 horsepower/400 Nm, 201 horsepower/500 Nm, and 164 horsepower/245 Nm. These engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either rear-wheel drive or 4WD.

Additionally, the Fortuner is equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen display and supports wireless connectivity with smartphones via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Mazda CX-8: 239 units

Closely following the Toyota Fortuner is the Mazda CX-8, with 239 units sold, representing a growth of 25.1%. It secured the fourth position in the D-segment SUV category.

Mazda CX-8

The Mazda CX-8 received an upgraded version in late 2024, with prices ranging from VND 969 million to VND 1.149 billion. It is currently the most affordable model in the D-segment SUV segment.

The new version of the Mazda CX-8 features enhancements in both its exterior design and equipment. It boasts Nappa leather seats in Chroma Brown, tire pressure sensors, and a driving support system for highways and traffic jams – the Cruising & Traffic Support.

The “heart” of the Mazda CX-8 is a 2.5L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 188 horsepower and 252 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2.5 Luxury and 2.5 Premium versions use front-wheel drive, while the 2.5 Signature AWD is equipped with an all-wheel-drive system.

Kia Sorento: 58 units

As mentioned earlier, the Kia Sorento was the only model to experience a decline in sales within the D-segment SUV market in March 2025. With a total of 58 units sold, it saw a decrease of 10.7%. Despite a discount of up to VND 110 million offered by the brand in March, the Sorento’s sales could not be salvaged.

Kia Sorento

The Kia Sorento currently offers the most versions and has the highest price in the D-segment SUV market. With 9 different versions, its price ranges from VND 954 million to VND 1.499 billion. In April 2025, Kia continues to offer discounts ranging from VND 10 million to VND 110 million, depending on the version.

The Sorento also boasts the most diverse range of engine options in the segment. The first is the Smartstream 2.5 MPI gasoline engine, producing 177 horsepower and 232 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Smartstream D2.2 diesel engine generates 198 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque and is combined with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The third option is a hybrid powertrain with a 1.6L turbocharged gasoline engine producing 178 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an electric motor that delivers 60 horsepower and 264 Nm of torque, along with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Lastly, the plug-in hybrid system combines a 1.6L gasoline engine with the same 6-speed automatic transmission. However, it is paired with a more powerful electric motor that delivers 90 horsepower and 304 Nm of torque.

Isuzu mu-X: 26 units

Ranking next in the D-segment SUV market is the Isuzu mu-X, with a modest sales figure of 26 units, representing a growth of 116.6%. Despite the significant growth, the low sales volume places the Isuzu mu-X among the 10 worst-selling cars in the market.

Isuzu mu-X

The Isuzu mu-X is priced between VND 911 million and VND 1.25 billion. Despite its affordability, the model struggles to attract customers due to its unappealing design and features. Additionally, the mid-size SUV has not received any significant upgrades in quite some time.

The “heart” of the Isuzu mu-X is a 1.9L 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 150 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. In the high-end version, this engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 4-wheel drive system. The other versions feature rear-wheel drive.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport: 22 units

Ranking last in the D-segment SUV category is the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, with only 22 units sold in March, despite a remarkable growth rate of 144%. This Japanese model had the highest sales growth rate in the segment but still found itself among the 10 worst-selling cars in the market, similar to the Isuzu mu-X.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

In recent months, Mitsubishi has discontinued promotional programs for the Pajero Sport, indicating that an upgraded version may be on the horizon.

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is available in two versions, with prices ranging from VND 1.13 billion to VND 1.365 billion. The high price, coupled with an outdated design and inferior features compared to its competitors, has hindered its sales performance.

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is equipped with a 2.4L MIVEC diesel engine that produces 178 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. The model continues to offer two drive systems: 1-wheel drive and 2-wheel drive, along with a rear differential lock.
