A host of imported cars in Vietnam are being offered with attractive discounts and incentives this March, with some models seeing price reductions of up to hundreds of millions of VND.

Urban SUVs with Registration Fee Support

The B/B+ SUV segment in Vietnam largely consists of imported vehicles, and as such, only a few models benefit from the reduced registration fee for domestically assembled cars.

However, several imported models in this segment are still being offered with similar incentives to boost sales.

For instance, customers purchasing the Toyota Yaris Cross this month are eligible for a 50% registration fee support, equivalent to a savings of 33-38 million VND. The Toyota Yaris Cross is imported from Indonesia and offered in two variants with prices ranging from 650 million to 765 million VND.

The Honda HR-V, a B-segment SUV imported from Thailand, is also part of the Japanese brand’s promotional campaign this March. Customers can enjoy a 50% registration fee discount, equivalent to 35-43.5 million VND, along with a one-year body insurance.

While the best-selling Mitsubishi Xforce SUV does not qualify for registration fee support, buyers can still take advantage of fuel vouchers worth 10-25 million VND, depending on the variant, as well as 12 free engine oil and oil filter changes.

The Mitsubishi Xforce is offered in four variants in Vietnam, with prices ranging from 599 to 705 million VND.

Promotions on Multi-Purpose Vehicles

The MPV segment in Vietnam also includes several imported models, such as the Mitsubishi Xpander, Honda BR-V, Suzuki XL7 Hybrid, and Hyundai Stargazer.

This March, these imported multi-purpose vehicles are being offered with various promotions and incentives.

The Mitsubishi Xpander, a popular choice in the affordable MPV segment, has two imported variants alongside two locally assembled options.

Both the Xpander AT Premium and Xpander Cross are eligible for a 50% registration fee support, along with fuel vouchers and a 360-degree camera system.

The total value of incentives for the Mitsubishi Xpander AT Premium and Xpander Cross amounts to 73 million VND and 76 million VND, respectively.

Honda is offering a registration fee support of up to 100% for the Honda BR-V, with the highest incentive being 70.5 million VND for the L variant, while the G variant receives a support of 31.5 million VND.

The Suzuki XL7 Hybrid, one of the few hybrid options in the segment, is also one of the last remaining Suzuki passenger car models in Vietnam.

This March, the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid comes with a 50% registration fee discount, a 20 million VND cash gift, and a set of genuine accessories including a rear spoiler and rain guards. The total value of incentives amounts to 55 million VND, effectively reducing the price from 600 million VND to 545 million VND.

Hyundai Stargazer, the only imported Hyundai passenger car model in Vietnam at the moment, is offering incentives of up to 75 million VND for vehicles with 2024 VINs. This promotion applies to the X variant with 1.5L engine and automatic transmission, as well as the 1.5 AT Standard and 1.5 AT High variants.

Japanese Cars Imported from Thailand Clear Stock with Cash Discounts

The Subaru Forester, a C-segment SUV, is transitioning to Japanese-made models. As a result, the current batch of Forester vehicles in Vietnam includes the last units produced at the Thai plant.

This March, Subaru continues to offer attractive cash discounts of up to 200 million VND for the Forester.

Thanks to these discounts, the Subaru Forester 2.0 i-S EyeSight, 2.0 i-L EyeSight, and 2.0 i-L variants are now priced between 829 million and 999 million VND, representing a reduction of 140-200 million VND from the original prices ranging from 969 million to 1.199 billion VND.

Previously, Tan Chong International Ltd. (TCIL) and Subaru Corporation of Japan decided to gradually reduce and eventually cease the assembly of Subaru vehicles in Thailand.

At the time of the announcement, the exclusive importer and distributor of Subaru vehicles in Vietnam stated that its dealer network would continue to sell Forester models imported from Thailand until the Japanese-made units officially arrive.

Another Japanese car imported from Thailand, the Honda Accord, is also being offered with a cash incentive this March. Honda is providing a cash discount of 250 million VND for this D-segment sedan, bringing the price down from 1.319 billion VND to 1.069 billion VND.

Last year, the Honda Accord sold only 91 units, making it one of Honda’s slowest-selling models in Vietnam, alongside the Honda Civic Type R, which sold just 11 units.
