The General Statistics Office’s report estimates a significant growth in automobile and motorcycle production in Vietnam during the first two months of the year compared to the same period last year.

Approximately 36,900 cars rolled out of factories in Vietnam in February. Cumulatively, the country’s domestic automobile output reached an estimated 74,800 units since the beginning of the year, marking a 106.5% year-on-year increase.

While there was a slight dip in domestic automobile production compared to the first month, motorcycle manufacturing witnessed a healthy growth in February, with an estimated output of 266,300 units during the reported period.

Cumulatively, Vietnam’s motorcycle production reached an estimated 501,600 units since the start of the year, reflecting a 17.9% year-on-year increase for the first two months.

Last year, the automobile and motorcycle market in Vietnam experienced a slow start but picked up pace in the latter half, resulting in successful year-end sales.

According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA) report, Vietnamese consumers purchased a total of 340,142 automobiles in 2024, a 12.6% increase from 2023.

The Vietnam Motorcycle Manufacturers Association (VAMM) reported that its five members, including Honda Vietnam, Piaggio Vietnam, Vietnam Suzuki, SYM Vietnam, and Yamaha Motor Vietnam, sold 2.653 million motorcycles in 2024, a 5.46% increase from the previous year.

As of the end of February, automobile sales in Vietnam reached 40,499 units, a 31% year-on-year increase. Of this, assembled car sales increased by 23% to 20,187 units, while imported car sales rose by 41% to 20,312 units.
