At the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, Chery unveiled Himla, a new sub-brand specializing in pickup trucks.

This is the latest move in Chery’s strategy to diversify its already extensive portfolio of brands, including Exeed, Omoda, Jaecoo, and iCar.

Himla’s first product is a mid-size pickup truck, positioned to compete directly with established names such as the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi Triton, and Nissan Navara.

The exterior design of the Himla draws inspiration from the KP11 concept Chery introduced last October, but with a fresh coat of paint, new wheel designs, and additional decorative elements.

The front of the truck makes a statement with its large grille and prominent “Chery” lettering. It features separate LED headlights, large wheel arches, and a square-jawed profile, exuding the strength and power synonymous with pickup trucks. Side steps are integrated into the rear bumper, complemented by alloy wheels and all-terrain tires.

Inside, the cabin is equipped with a large central infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster. The light-colored leather upholstery and rear air vents suggest that this could be the top-of-the-line trim level for the Himla.

The cargo bed is comparable in size to its mid-size rivals, making it versatile for both commercial and personalized use.

Chery has not yet disclosed detailed specifications for the Himla, but it is likely to feature a traditional body-on-frame construction common in this segment.

In terms of powertrain, Chery is expected to offer a range of options, including gasoline, hybrid, and pure electric variants, catering to the ongoing electrification trend in the automotive industry.

Himla will not only cater to the Chinese domestic market but also target exports to Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America. The brand plans to develop a full range of pickup trucks, including small, medium, and large sizes.
