Among the many Porsche 911s out there, the limited-edition Porsche 911 Dakar stands out, with only a handful produced and one proudly owned by a Vietnamese businessman from Haiphong, now residing in Ho Chi Minh City.
Just a week after taking delivery of this sports car, he embarked on a 35,000-kilometer round trip to China. And in the nearly two years since, he’s returned to the country twice in this very car.
In a recent update, the owner revealed that the car’s odometer had climbed to almost 75,000 kilometers during his return to Urumqi, where he had first serviced the car at the 15,000-kilometer mark. It’s likely that the 911 Dakar will hit the 100,000-kilometer mark this year.
One of the key advantages of the Porsche 911 Dakar is its higher ground clearance, approximately 50 mm more than the standard model, which enables the Haiphong businessman to navigate various terrains with ease.
Additionally, the Porsche 911 Dakar can further raise its ground clearance by 30 mm in ‘High Level’ mode, designed for off-road driving and activated via a knob on the steering wheel. This feature allows the car to glide over speed bumps and potholes without scraping its underbelly.
Upon delivery, this limited-edition Porsche 911 Dakar received a new decal with red and yellow accents on its original GT Silver Metallic paint job. The numbers ’19’ were also added to both sides and the front trunk lid, signifying the owner’s birthday – the 19th of April.
This particular Porsche 911 Dakar, with the serial number 1904/2500, represents the owner’s birthdate – the 19th of April. Only 2,500 of these cars were produced globally.
The Porsche 911 Dakar is powered by a 3.0-liter inline-six twin-turbo engine, producing 473 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque. Coupled with an 8-speed PDK automatic transmission, all-wheel drive, and rear-axle steering, it sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 240 km/h.
