Denza, a premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand owned by BYD, unveiled its first-ever sports car concept, the Denza Z, at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. If brought to market, the Denza Z would be a formidable competitor to the all-electric version of the Porsche 911.

The Denza Z embodies the design philosophy of Pure Emotion, seamlessly blending aerodynamics with functionality to serve performance and racing aspirations.
While the Denza Z’s dimensions (based on the images) and the presence of two rear seats evoke similarities to the Porsche 911, the overall design seems inspired by various Lamborghini and Lotus models. This concept car features a low front bumper and spoiler, a massive rear diffuser, and an extremely large rear wing. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if the production version of this car toned down these “over-the-top” design elements.

The Denza Z’s standout feature is its array of advanced technologies. It is equipped with the DiSus-M vehicle control system, the first time this system has been announced for a new energy vehicle.
DiSus is a vehicle control system introduced by BYD on April 10, 2023, comprising three technology branches: DiSus-C, DiSus-A, and DiSus-P. On March 27, the Yangwang brand officially launched the U7 model with the DiSus-Z system.
According to Denza, DiSus-M is based on the principle of magnetorheological fluid, allowing for flexible self-adjusting suspension. Compared to conventional shock absorption technology, DiSus-M offers continuous two-way (compression and rebound) adjustments without levels. With a response time of less than 10 milliseconds, it boasts advantages in rapid feedback, wide adjustment range, and low noise.
Denza also mentions that this vehicle control system can be integrated with road surface scanning technology, providing a more comfortable experience on varying road conditions.

Moreover, the Denza Z is equipped with an electronic steering system developed by BYD, eliminating traditional mechanical connections. This technology enables a foldable steering wheel, removing the intrusion of a conventional steering column into the cockpit, thus enhancing safety and flexibility.

Additionally, the Denza Z is the first sports car to be equipped with BYD’s e3 technology, which is a compact version of the e4 technology used in ultra-luxury cars. e3 provides a three-motor independent drive system with independent control of the two rear wheels. BYD’s current models, the Z9, Z9GT, and N9, are also equipped with this e3 technology.
While current information does not reveal details about the Denza Z’s electric powertrain, it is likely to inherit the system from its sibling, the Denza Z9 GT. If so, it will feature three electric motors, delivering a combined output of 952 horsepower.
The BYD Denza Z may share its powertrain with the Z9 GT.
The introduction of the Denza Z completes the brand’s product ecosystem and underscores its ambition to bring advanced technology and luxury to the sports car market.
