The Omoda C5 is an all-new B-segment SUV that made its debut in 2022. Three years after its market launch, a new hybrid variant named the Omoda C5 HEV has been introduced.

A closer look at the new Omoda C5 hybrid variant.

The Omoda C5 HEV is based on the mid-life cycle facelift of this B-segment SUV, which was unveiled in 2024. The most notable change is found under the hood with its new hybrid powertrain.

The Omoda C5 HEV is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 141 horsepower and 215 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an electric motor that generates 201 horsepower and 310 Nm. According to Chery’s sub-brand, this SUV can travel up to 930 km on a single tank of fuel.

The exterior design of the Omoda C5 HEV remains largely unchanged from the standard gasoline-powered version. However, it does feature a new front-end design with a grille that sports a sleek, body-colored diamond mesh pattern. The chrome trim on the grille has been replaced with a new glossy black insert that integrates the “Omoda” lettering.

This glossy black trim seamlessly connects to the redesigned, sharp-looking LED daytime running lights. Below them sit the vertically oriented LED headlights, which remain unchanged in size.

Other updates to the Omoda C5 HEV include a new front bumper and aerodynamic, two-tone sports alloy wheels. These wheels also differentiate the HEV variant from its gasoline-powered counterpart. At the rear, changes are minimal, except for the new HEV logo on the tailgate.

In comparison, the gasoline-powered version is equipped with LED headlights, front fog lights, automatic wipers, electrically adjustable mirrors, a power tailgate, dual-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, rear seat heating, a sunroof, auto-dimming mirrors, and a navigation system.

Pricing for the Omoda C5 HEV has not been announced yet. In Vietnam, the pre-facelift version of this B-segment SUV is currently available through official channels, with prices ranging from 539 to 669 million VND.

At the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, which opened last week, Chery unveiled a new plug-in hybrid variant called the SHS for the C5 lineup. However, specific details about this model have not yet been disclosed. It is known that the Omoda C5 SHS will not replace the aforementioned C5 HEV but will be positioned higher in the lineup.
