After an extensive testing period, Ferrari has officially unveiled the 296 Speciale – a high-performance, finely-tuned version of the 296 GTB. This release upholds Ferrari’s familiar philosophy: every supercar line deserves a pinnacle model.
In Italian, “Speciale” means “special” – and true to its name, this car is a fusion of speed, technology, and design artistry. It is Ferrari’s way of continuing the spirit of the 458 Speciale, which took the world by storm back in 2013.
With dimensions of 4,625 mm in length, 1,968 mm in width, 1,181 mm in height, and a 2,600 mm wheelbase, the Ferrari 296 Speciale is 60 mm longer, 10 mm wider, and 6 mm lower than the 296 GTB. Its exterior boasts a radical aerodynamic style, inspired by the 296 GT3 race car, optimizing cooling, reducing drag, and enhancing overall performance.
Special personalization options such as the Verde Nurburgring paint job, racing stripes, and serial numbers ranging from 00 to 99, give each car a unique touch.
Ferrari equips this model with a Multimatic suspension system and titanium springs – technology inherited from the 296 GT3 race car – significantly reducing the car’s weight. With extensive use of carbon fiber, the 296 Speciale has a dry weight of only 1,410 kg, 60 kg lighter than the GTB version, achieving an ideal 40:60 weight distribution.
The standard 20-inch wheels are paired with Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes (398 mm front, 360 mm rear) for superior high-speed control. Customers can opt for carbon fiber wheel upgrades to further enhance performance.
One of the 296 Speciale’s standout features is its ability to generate up to 435 kg of downforce at 250 km/h – a 20% improvement over the 296 GTB – thanks to its optimized active aerodynamics system.
Although it uses the same exhaust system as the 296 GTB, the sound has been fine-tuned to deliver a more exhilarating experience for the driver.
The interior remains largely unchanged, maintaining a minimalist style with premium materials like carbon fiber and Alcantara. Customers can choose from three types of racing seats, leather colors, seat belts, stitching, and the iconic Prancing Horse logo on the headrest.
The Ferrari 296 Speciale is powered by a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine, producing 700 horsepower and 755 Nm of torque, with a redline of 8,500 rpm. The hybrid system adds another 154 horsepower, bringing the total output to 880 horsepower – a 50 horsepower increase over the GTB.
As a result, it sprints from 0–100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds, reaches 200 km/h in 7 seconds, and has a top speed of over 330 km/h. It offers four driving modes: eDrive (electric), Hybrid, Performance, and Qualify.
The 7.45 kWh battery allows for an all-electric range of 25 km. Notably, the 296 Speciale completes a lap at Fiorano in 1 minute and 19 seconds – faster than the renowned 812 Competizione V12.
Although not limited in production numbers, the Ferrari 296 Speciale will only be available for order during a specific period. Priced at 407,000 euros (approximately 463,000 USD or 11.7 billion VND), it is a fitting cost for those seeking something special – in both design and performance.
