On December 7-8, 2024, Hyundai Thanh Cong Vietnam (HTV) organized the Hyundai Experience Day 2024 event at Saigon River Park in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City. Two of the event’s special activities were the test drive of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N electric sports car and the Elantra Gymkhana Hyundai Thanh Cong Cup 2024.

The Ioniq 5 N is Hyundai’s most powerful high-performance electric car to date. While the car was brought to Vietnam for this event, it is not for sale in the country.

Hyundai’s most powerful electric car arrives in Vietnam, but it’s not for sale.

First introduced in July 2024 as the first electric car from Hyundai’s high-performance N division, the Ioniq 5 N represents a new segment of high-performance electric vehicles that focus on the driver. It combines the N division’s sports car technology with the E-GMP platform and expertise from the “Rolling Lab” to maximize electric vehicle performance.

The Ioniq 5 N is equipped with an 84 kWh battery pack and dual motors, delivering a combined output of 601 horsepower (448 kW) and up to 641 horsepower (478 kW) in Boost mode. It won the Top Gear’s 2023 Car of the Year award and set a record for the fastest electric SUV lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife by Germany’s “Sport Auto.”

At the event, participants had the opportunity to experience the Ioniq 5 N Driftspec, a modified version of the electric car used for drifting. They were taken on a “taxi-ride” alongside professional drift racers from Hyundai in South Korea.

The event also featured the Elantra Gymkhana Hyundai Thanh Cong Cup 2024 with a brand-new race track layout. Gymkhana is a driving discipline that focuses on agility and precision rather than pure speed. It is an accessible motorsport that does not require specialized tracks like F1 or World Rally. Moreover, the skills learned in Gymkhana are applicable to everyday driving in Vietnam.

During the race, customers got to test their skills behind the wheel of the Elantra N-line, the sports version of the Elantra. This car is equipped with a 1.6-liter Turbo engine that produces 204 horsepower and is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The best performers in the race had the chance to drive the Elantra N, a true sports sedan with a host of racing technologies. It is powered by a 2.0L I4 T-GDi engine that delivers 280 horsepower and 392 Nm of torque. This engine has been optimized for performance and durability.

Visitors could also explore genuine parts and accessories from premium brands like 3M, Shell, and Red & Blue Charge.

The new generation Hyundai Santa Fe was also on display at the event.

Attendees could also enjoy a special hot air balloon experience over the Saigon River and a lively concert featuring popular Vietnamese artists such as Trúc Nhân, Isaac, Erik, Rhyder, Lâm Bảo Ngọc, and Mỹ Mỹ.
