A group of Vietnamese car enthusiasts embarked on an extraordinary 10,000-km journey across China, exploring renowned destinations and routes. Among their fleet was a rare Porsche 911 Dakar, a car with parts not easily sourced like other 911 variants.
During their adventure in China, the owner of this limited-edition Porsche 911 Dakar sports car encountered a flat tire. Fortunately, what could have been a lengthy wait for a replacement tire was resolved within 24 hours, thanks to the availability of specialized tires in China.
In a recent update, the owner shared that the car had reached the 15,000-km maintenance mark in Urumqi, and now, the odometer reads close to 75,000 km. This year, the Porsche 911 Dakar is expected to surpass the 100,000-km milestone.
One of the key advantages of the Porsche 911 Dakar is its increased ground clearance, approximately 50 mm higher than the standard model. This feature has been instrumental in tackling various terrains during the owner’s journeys.
Additionally, the Porsche 911 Dakar can further raise its ride height by 30 mm in the High-Level mode, specifically designed for off-road conditions. This mode is activated via a knob on the steering wheel, allowing the car to navigate speed bumps and potholes without scraping the underbody.
When the first Porsche 911 Dakar arrived in Vietnam, it featured a unique livery with red and yellow accents on the original GT Silver Metallic paint. The doors and front trunk lid displayed the number 19, which holds a special significance for the owner as it represents their birth date.
This particular Porsche 911 Dakar is numbered 1,904 out of the 2,500 units produced globally. The number was chosen as a tribute to the owner’s birthday, with 19 representing the day and 04 representing the month.
The Porsche 911 Dakar is a limited-edition model with only 2,560 units produced worldwide. It is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged 6-cylinder engine, delivering 473 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque. Coupled with an 8-speed PDK automatic transmission, all-wheel drive, and rear-axle steering, the Porsche 911 Dakar accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 240 km/h.
With its impressive performance, exclusive nature, and the owner’s adventurous spirit, the Porsche 911 Dakar continues to create memorable journeys and unique experiences across China and beyond.
