The Bangkok International Motor Show 2025 (BIMS 2025) currently taking place in Bangkok, Thailand, offers a glimpse into the future of the automotive industry for Vietnamese visitors.
This includes a range of gasoline, electric, and hybrid vehicles from brands that are already present in Vietnam or planning to enter the market.
Mitsubishi Xpander/Xpander Cross HEV
At BIMS 2025, Mitsubishi showcases the latest hybrid electric versions of the Xpander and Xpander Cross. For more details on these models, click here.

The cabin remains largely similar, featuring an electronic gearshift and electronic parking brake.
Both the Mitsubishi Xpander HEV Play and Mitsubishi Xpander Cross HEV Play are powered by a 1.6L MIVEC gasoline engine producing 95 hp and 134 Nm of torque, combined with an electric motor generating 116 hp and a 1.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
According to Mitsubishi, this setup results in a fuel efficiency of approximately 5.2 liters/100 km.
In Thailand, the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross HEV Play and Mitsubishi Xpander HEV Play are priced at 981,000 baht, equivalent to 28,955 USD.
Mitsubishi is likely to introduce the hybrid versions of the Xpander and Xpander Cross in Vietnam to enhance the competitiveness of these core models.
Mitsubishi Xforce HEV
Similarly, the recently launched Mitsubishi Xforce in Vietnam is expected to receive a hybrid variant soon, following in the footsteps of the Xpander/Xpander Cross.

The HEV logo on the grille, rear door, and front doors indicates the hybrid powertrain of this B-segment SUV.
The interior of the Xforce HEV features an electronic gearshift instead of the conventional straight-gate shifter, enhancing the overall appeal of the cabin.
The Xforce HEV combines a 1.6L gasoline engine with an electric motor, resulting in a total output of 114 hp and 255 Nm of torque. This setup delivers impressive fuel efficiency, with a claimed consumption of just 4.1 liters/100 km.
In Thailand, the Mitsubishi Xforce HEV is offered in three variants: Ignite, Ultimate, and Ultimate X, priced at 899,000 baht (26,562 USD), 1,039,000 baht (30,700 USD), and 1,089,000 baht (32,177 USD), respectively.
BYD Shark 6 Pickup Truck

Following its introduction, the BYD Shark 6 hybrid pickup truck, showcased at BIMS 2025, could make its way to Vietnam.

The BYD Shark 6 has larger dimensions compared to its competitors in the mid-size pickup segment, with a length of 5,457 mm, a width of 1,971 mm, and a height of 1,925 mm. Its wheelbase measures 3,260 mm.
The front of the vehicle features a bold, square design with a prominent BYD logo. At the rear, a full-width LED light bar spans the width of the truck.
The interior of the BYD Shark 6 is accentuated by orange stitching. The center console stands out with its electronic gearshift and physical control buttons.
The BYD Shark 6 has a starting price of 57,900 USD. Pricing for the Thai market has not yet been announced.
Mazda 6e Electric Sedan
After its launch in China and Europe, the electric version of the “Mazda6” makes its appearance at BIMS 2025 as the Mazda 6e. For more details on this electric sedan, click here.

The Mazda 6e has larger dimensions than its gasoline-powered predecessor, the Mazda6. Its length, width, and height are 4,921 mm, 1,890 mm, and 1,485 mm, respectively.
The Mazda 6e electric sedan is offered with two single-motor configurations, both with rear-wheel drive. The motors produce either 244 hp or 258 hp, with a maximum torque of 320 Nm.
Equipped with an 80 kWh battery pack, the Mazda 6e can travel up to 552 km on a single charge, as per the WLTP cycle.
Mazda has not disclosed the pricing for the Mazda 6e in Thailand. In China, the electric sedan is priced between 19,300 and 24,800 USD.
Given the less-than-stellar sales performance of the Mazda6 in Vietnam, the introduction of the Mazda 6e could be a strategic move by the Japanese automaker.
In 2024, the Mazda6 sold 612 units in Vietnam, making it the second best-selling sedan in the D-segment. However, it lags behind the sales figures of the segment leader, the Toyota Camry.
Volvo EX90 Luxury Electric SUV
Following its official launch in Thailand in November 2024, the Volvo EX90 electric SUV makes an appearance at BIMS 2025. For more images of this model, click here.

In its top-of-the-line Twin Motor Performance Ultra variant, the EX90 boasts a combined output of 510 hp and 910 Nm of torque from its dual-motor setup.
