Great Wall Motor has unveiled the ICE-powered version of its Haval Raptor, offering a new variant alongside the existing plug-in hybrid model currently available in China.

The Haval Raptor was first introduced in the fall of 2023, featuring GWM’s self-developed Hi4 hybrid powertrain. However, initial sales fell short of expectations, prompting the automaker to release an improved version in early 2024. In Q1 of 2025, the Raptor PHEV recorded sales of 14,159 units, ranking 60th among best-selling SUVs in China.

The Haval Raptor ICE boasts dimensions of 4,800 x 1,950 x 1,822 mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,738 mm, matching its hybrid counterpart.

The newly unveiled Haval Raptor ICE retains the boxy design of its predecessor, the PHEV model. However, it features a revised front end with a vertical waterfall grille, accented by a glowing “HAVAL” logo. The headlamps have been redesigned into a rectangular shape, mirroring the taillights, which also incorporate vertical light bars. The spare tire remains mounted on the outside, emphasizing its traditional off-road SUV style.

Notable features include a panoramic sunroof, roof rails, side steps, conventional door handles, and a range of tire size options, including 245/55 R19, 265/60 R18, and 255/60 R19.

Under the hood, the Haval Raptor ICE is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged gasoline engine, delivering an impressive 235 horsepower. The engine is paired with a 9-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an optional all-wheel-drive system (AWD).

The introduction of the ICE version is a strategic move to cater to a broader range of customers, especially considering the polarized hybrid market. Haval anticipates that the gasoline-powered Raptor will enhance its competitiveness in the mid-size off-road SUV segment in China.
