The Toyota Corolla Cross has never been a car that ignites the imagination or quickens the pulse. However, the 2026 updates for the European market have given it a more distinctive character. Alongside a host of upgrades across the entire range, Toyota has also introduced a new GR Sport variant.

The most notable changes to the 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross are found at the front of the vehicle. Here, the car boasts a new, more athletic honeycomb grille and sharper-designed LED headlights. The most prominent feature is the daytime running light bar that stretches across the front end on higher-spec models.

At the rear, Toyota has also made subtle refinements to this compact SUV. This is evident in the new taillights with small fins, which, according to Toyota, improve stability and aerodynamic efficiency.

Unfortunately, the sides of this compact SUV remain largely unchanged, except for the wheels. The vehicle is now fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels featuring a new design.

Similar to the exterior, the interior of the 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross has been upgraded with more convenient features and visually appealing changes. These include a larger central control cluster, a new gear selector, wireless phone charging, a 10.5-inch infotainment screen, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Toyota also promises an even smoother driving experience.

In the European market, the 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross will offer two hybrid powertrain options. The standard Hybrid 140 features a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with an electric motor, producing a combined output of 138 horsepower. For those seeking more power, the Hybrid 200 variant utilizes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, generating a total of 194 horsepower.

Next is the GR Sport version, which has a more aggressive exterior design. Compared to the standard model, the 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross GR Sport features notable changes such as a unique front bumper and grille design, as well as 19-inch black alloy wheels. The Storm Grey paint color is exclusive to this variant.

The interior of the GR Sport variant features distinctive elements such as “GR” logos on the steering wheel and headrests. Red stitching accents can be found on the seats, gear selector, and center armrest. The GR Sport’s seats also have a more pronounced sporty design compared to the standard model.

The GR Sport’s engine does not offer more power than the standard model. However, it has been slightly upgraded with a 10 mm lower suspension setup and adjustments for a sportier driving feel. The electric power steering has been retuned, and paddle shifters behind the steering wheel are standard. Additionally, Toyota has included a Sport driving mode and a Snow Extra Mode for the GR Sport variant.

Toyota has not yet announced the specific launch date for international markets. However, the new Toyota Corolla Cross will arrive at European dealerships by mid-2023. It wouldn’t be surprising if the updated Corolla Cross, which is already available in the European market, makes its way to Southeast Asian markets, including Vietnam, in the near future.
