As we move into the second quarter, the Vietnamese automotive market is heating up with a host of new entrants. The MPV segment, in particular, is attracting a lot of attention with new models from China, while established players in the segment are offering promotions to stay competitive.
Toyota Veloz and Avanza Premio Offer 50% Discount on Registration Fee
In April, Toyota’s popular MPV, the Veloz, continues to offer a 50% discount on registration fees for the CVT and CVT Top versions. This translates to a cash benefit of around 32-33 million VND. Its sibling, the Avanza Premio, enjoys a similar discount, amounting to approximately 28-30 million VND depending on the variant. Additionally, customers who purchase the Veloz Cross or Avanza Premio this month will receive a one-year free physical damage insurance.

The Veloz Cross has consistently been one of the best-selling MPVs in Vietnam, going head-to-head with the Mitsubishi Xpander. In the last month of the first quarter, Toyota Vietnam sold 586 units of the Veloz Cross. It is priced between 638 and 668 million VND, depending on the variant and exterior color.
The Avanza Premio is offered in two variants, with prices ranging from 558 to 598 million VND.
Honda BR-V Offers Financing Promotion
While the Honda BR-V doesn’t benefit from registration fee discounts, customers who opt for financing have an attractive incentive. Those who purchase the BR-V through a loan from Honda Vietnam’s partner bank enjoy a fixed interest rate of 3.9% for the first 12 months.

The Honda BR-V might not be the top-selling model in the affordable 7-seater segment, but it consistently maintains steady sales. In the first two months of the year, Honda Vietnam sold 586 units of the BR-V. It is available in two variants, G and L, priced at 661 million and 705 million VND respectively, with an additional 5 million VND for the pearl white paint option.
Hyundai Offers Cash Discounts
TC Group is offering cash discounts on a range of Hyundai vehicles in Vietnam, including the MPV Stargazer X. The promotion offers up to 75 million VND off, depending on the variant and model.
According to our sources, dealerships are offering additional discounts of around 15-20 million VND on the Stargazer X, depending on the exterior color. Customers who purchase the vehicle in April will also receive a 50 million VND service voucher and complimentary accessories such as window tinting and a dashcam.

For the 2024 VIN Stargazer X, some dealerships are offering discounts of up to 50-55 million VND to clear inventory. When contacted, a Hyundai dealership in Ho Chi Minh City quoted a price of 545 million VND for the Stargazer X 1.5T High, a reduction of 54 million VND from the manufacturer’s listed price.
However, stock is limited, and customers are advised to contact their local dealership for availability and offers. The Hyundai Stargazer is available in three variants, with prices ranging from 489 to 599 million VND.
A Wave of New Entrants
The segment is set to become even more competitive with a host of new entrants. The BYD M6, an all-electric MPV from the Chinese manufacturer, has already made waves in the market. Setting aside the consideration of charging infrastructure, it is a compelling option that reduces fuel costs, especially for commercial operators.
The BYD M6 is priced at 756 million VND and comes with a portable charger, power converter, and home charging unit.

Following the BYD M6 is the VinFast Limo Green, another all-electric MPV from the domestic automaker. With a price tag of 749 million VND, it is expected to make a splash in the segment, thanks to its competitive pricing and the advantage of VinFast’s charging infrastructure.
Currently, the Limo Green is only available to ride-hailing drivers through GSM. At the introduction event for Limo Green drivers, VinFast advisors also began collecting information and expressing interest in offering an MPV variant for individual customers.
The MG G50 has also been launched in Vietnam, with three variants: the MT priced at 559 million VND, the AT Del at 698 million VND, and the AT Lux at 749 million VND. The G50 is expected to be a strong contender in the segment, potentially rivaling the established Xpander.

With MG’s history of offering deep discounts soon after launch, the G50’s price could become even more attractive. For Vietnamese buyers, price often trumps other considerations like brand, engine, or performance. A competitive price could make the G50 a cash cow for the brand and a great value proposition for ride-sharing drivers.
