Toyota has revealed the first images of the interior of an all-new SUV, set to debut on May 21st.
While the company has not officially confirmed the name, speculation suggests that this is the sixth-generation Toyota RAV4 (2026), replacing the nearly seven-year-old XA50 model.
The teaser images showcase a more angular and rugged RAV4, clearly inspired by the Land Cruiser Prado. This is evident in the large, three-spoke steering wheel, hexagonal air vents, and centrally-mounted terrain control buttons.
Notably, the 2026 RAV4 takes a significant step forward in technology, featuring a large, floating central display, wireless Qi charging on a “floating shelf” in the center console, and a compact gear shifter next to the cup holders.
Based on leaked images from the Wildlander version in China, the 2026 RAV4 will inherit Toyota’s new “Hammerhead” design language, featuring C-shaped lighting, honeycomb grille, squared-off body, and muscular wheel arches. A two-tone roof option will also be available.
Similar to the 2025 Camry, the new RAV4 is expected to utilize an upgraded version of the TNGA-K platform, rather than an entirely new architecture. This allows for shared engine options with the Camry, including: a 2.5L hybrid engine producing approximately 230 horsepower and a 2.5L naturally aspirated gasoline engine with 204 horsepower.
Additionally, Toyota is rumored to be upgrading the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain for the RAV4, offering an all-electric range of up to 130 km. There are also speculations about a potential fully electric version.
With its rugged design, modern interior, and diverse engine options, the 2026 Toyota RAV4 is poised to continue its global sales success, maintaining its strong presence in key markets such as North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
