In recent times, numerous dealerships have launched shocking discount programs to clear out old car inventories. Kia dealers are no exception.
Accordingly, in recent days, some Kia dealers have been advertising the mid-size SUV Sorento at a price of just 899 million VND. This price applies to the 2023-2024 2.2D Luxury version of the Kia Sorento. This represents a significant discount compared to the manufacturer’s listed price for this model.
When it was first launched in 2021, the Kia Sorento 2.2D Luxury was priced at 1.079 billion VND. However, in 2023, this price dropped to 964 million VND.
As these are clearance sales, the quantity and color options will be limited and vary across dealerships. For immediate availability, customers are advised to consider the 2.2D Signature and 2.2D Premium versions, which are 2025 models. These versions are currently offering discounts of 55 million and 82 million VND, respectively, valid for the month of May 2025.
Many predict that this clearance sale is to make way for an upgraded version of the Sorento. Earlier, starting in February 2025, some Kia dealers in Vietnam began taking deposits for the new Sorento model.
Initially, there were rumors that the new Kia Sorento would be launched in the Vietnamese market in March or early April 2025. However, as of now, the car has yet to be released.
According to sales consultants at the dealerships, the 2025 Kia Sorento will feature a design similar to the one introduced in international markets last year. The new model will adopt the Opposites United design language, in line with other Kia models such as the Seltos, Carnival, Morning, and EV9.

The 2025 Kia Sorento is anticipated to feature new LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, and LED taillights inspired by constellations. It will also showcase an improved “tiger nose” grille and new 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the highlight is the new curved display on the dashboard, integrating a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen.

The 2025 Kia Sorento in Vietnam is expected to retain the same engine options. These include the Smartstream 2.5 MPI gasoline engine with 4 cylinders, a displacement of 2.5L, and a maximum output of 177 horsepower and 232 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The second option is the Smartstream D2.2 diesel engine, also with 4 cylinders and a displacement of 2.2L. It generates 198 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque and is coupled with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Thirdly, a new hybrid powertrain, similar to the one found in the Kia Carnival HEV 2025 sold in Vietnam, is expected. Specifically, the Kia Sorento HEV 2025 will be equipped with a 1.6L turbocharged gasoline engine and an electric motor. The electric motor has a higher power output of 47.7 kW (approximately 65 horsepower) compared to the previous 44.2 kW (60 horsepower). Combined, the system delivers 245 horsepower and 366 Nm of torque. This setup not only offers improved performance but also better fuel efficiency, with an average consumption of 15.7 km/l (approximately 6.36 liters/100 km).
Finally, a plug-in hybrid system will be available, featuring the same 1.6L gasoline engine and 6-speed automatic transmission. However, it will be paired with a more powerful 90-horsepower electric motor that delivers 304 Nm of torque.
The introduction of the new model is expected to boost Kia Sorento’s sales in the Vietnamese market. In April 2025, Kia sold 49 Sorento units in Vietnam. The cumulative sales for the first four months of this year stand at 224 units, which is relatively low in the D-segment SUV category.
