BMW Motorrad is working on an all-new model to succeed the R 1250 GS, and we’ve seen numerous spy shots of this bike over the past few years. Recently, documents have surfaced suggesting that the bike will feature a host of engine upgrades.
The new model is expected to be powered by a 1.3-liter boxer engine, producing a healthy 143.5 hp at 7,750 rpm and 148 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. Both figures represent a slight improvement over the current R 1250 GS, which makes do with 134.1 hp and 143 Nm.
The R 1300 GS also sees a change in dimensions, with a length of 2,212 mm and a wheelbase of 1,518 mm. According to the published documents, the new bike weighs in at 335 kg, including a 75 kg rider and some accessories—just 1 kg more than the R 1250 GS.
