May 17, 2025 – Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM), the operator of Xanh SM – the first all-electric ride-hailing brand in Southeast Asia, officially launches the Xanh SM Platform in Laos.

At the same time, GSM also announces the official distribution of two VinFast electric vehicle models, VF 3 and VF 5, in the country.

Laos is the second international market where GSM offers a full ride-hailing and vehicle distribution model, after Vietnam. This marks an important step in the brand’s “Go Green Global” strategy, showcasing its pioneering efforts in bringing the “Made in Vietnam” sustainable mobility model to the region.

After over a year of operating ride-hailing services in four provinces and cities, including Vientiane, Vang Vieng, Savannakhet, and Champasak, Xanh SM has received positive responses from the Lao people, initially proving the effectiveness and suitability of the model in the market. So far, millions of customers in Laos have accompanied Xanh SM, traveling more than 8 million kilometers by electric vehicle, contributing to reduced emissions – equivalent to the amount of CO₂ absorbed by over 70,000 trees in a year.

This lays the foundation for Xanh SM to take another step forward in its journey to contribute to the greening of Laos’ transportation sector by introducing the Xanh SM Platform.

Acting as an open technology solution, the Xanh SM Platform will enable individuals who own VinFast VF 5 electric vehicles in Laos to become transport service operation partners, proactively creating sustainable incomes.

According to the current revenue-sharing policy, driver-partners joining the Xanh SM Platform will be entitled to up to 87%, the highest rate in the current Lao market. In addition, driver-partners will have access to a large customer base from the Xanh SM ecosystem and participate in well-organized training programs that adhere to international green transport service standards.

Along with the introduction of the Xanh SM Platform, Xanh SM also announces the opening of the first VinFast showroom on Kaysone Phomvihane Street, Ban Phakao, Xaythany District, and the launch of the VinFast VF 3 and VF 5 electric vehicles for sale. Xanh SM is currently the official exclusive distributor of VinFast in Laos.

The VinFast VF 5 is a small urban SUV, featuring a flexible design with a spacious interior and optimized performance for business service purposes. The vehicle is priced at 450,297,000 Kip in Laos (equivalent to $20,690, including VAT). Customers who make a deposit from now until May 31, 2025, will receive a direct discount of 9,794,000 Kip ($450) and a 50% exemption on charging costs for two years, until June 30, 2027. Customers can choose to convert the 50% charging cost benefit into cash of $1,000, deducted directly from the vehicle price. Thus, the total value of incentives can be up to 31,558,000 Kip ($1,450), reducing the actual ownership cost to $19,240.

The VinFast VF 3 is a four-seat mini electric car, designed with a compact and flexible size, suitable for daily personal mobility needs, especially for young people and first-time car owners. The vehicle is priced at 269,656,000 Kip (equivalent to $12,390, including VAT). Customers who make a deposit by May 31, 2025, will receive a direct discount of 5,440,000 Kip ($250) and a 50% exemption on charging costs for two years, until June 30, 2027. For the VF 3 model, customers can also choose to convert the 50% charging cost benefit into cash of $250, deducted directly from the vehicle price. Thus, the total value of incentives for the VF 3 model is equivalent to 10,880,000 Kip ($500), reducing the actual ownership cost to $11,890.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, CEO of GSM Global, shared: “The launch of the Xanh SM Platform in Laos is not just a market expansion but also a strategic move to comprehensively export a sustainable development model where technology, environment, and economic opportunities are integrated into a single platform. We believe that Vietnam can not only produce green vehicles but also lead the global transition in the way we move. And Xanh SM is a testament to that.”
