In just under two years since its delivery, the first Porsche 911 Dakar in Vietnam is approaching the 100,000-kilometer mark – a rare feat for any supercar, especially a limited edition of only 2,560 units globally.
After its third cross-border trip to China, the odometer of the 911 Dakar surpassed 83,888 kilometers, and it is well on its way to hitting six digits this year if its owner continues his journey of exploration.
Not only is the owner adventurous, but he is also a passionate driver. Covering nearly 100,000 kilometers in 21 months is an achievement that even regular cars would struggle to attain without continuous operation. Within the global Porsche community, this 911 Dakar might be one of the fastest in terms of odometer increment.
Why is the Porsche 911 Dakar a capable cross-border vehicle?
Unlike the standard 911 models, the Dakar edition is fine-tuned for off-road excursions. It boasts a 50 mm higher ground clearance, and this can be further increased by 30 mm when the High Level mode is activated via a rotary knob on the steering wheel. Consequently, the car effortlessly navigates potholes, speed bumps, and rough terrains.
Under the hood lies a 3.0L twin-turbocharged flat-six engine that generates 473 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque. This powerplant is mated to an 8-speed PDK automatic transmission, an AWD system, and rear-axle steering. The car sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, and its top speed is limited to 240 km/h.
Striking Personalization
Upon its arrival in Vietnam, the car was adorned with a unique red and yellow decal set against the original GT Silver Metallic paint. The number 19 on the doors and hood signifies the owner’s birthday, while the serial number 1,904 reflects his birth month of April.
From Sports Car to Long-Distance Companion
The Porsche 911 Dakar was originally created as a tribute to the brand’s victories in the Dakar Rally. But for businessman H.A.N, this car is more than just a symbol of speed and limited production. It has become his trusted partner on roads and trails, from Vietnamese highways to the Tian Shan Mountains in China.
